with dedicated teams focused on needs assessment, instructional
design, program delivery, and impact evaluation.
Our corporate learning team works with your organization in a fourstage
engagement process: we assess what you need, develop a plan
that best matches your needs, deliver the training program, and
measure its impact.
We understand that sometimes only minor interventions are
required. Maybe all you need for now is a conflict resolution
seminar for middle management, or a short email writing course
for your administrative personnel, or even just to enrol a few of your
employees in one of our courses at a discounted rate. We are also
here to help you on those occasions. No matter how big or small
your project is, UAlberta Extension has a training solution that will

PROCESS
AT A
GLANCE
ASSESS
We start by engaging your organization
in consultation activities to identify and
assess your learning needs. With the help
of your own structured data or by capturing
it ourselves, we will compose an overview
of your organization’s current position,
future goals, people’s skills, and skill gaps.
Factors such as structure, processes,
personnel, and the unique culture of your
organization are taken into account, as well
as time and budgetary constraints.
PLAN
Based on the needs assessment, our
team will develop a plan to meet your
development requirements. In a few
cases, this may be as simple as identifying
existing courses or programs for individual
employees, drawing from our pool of
over 300 offerings covering areas such as
leadership skills, project management,
business communications, marketing,
and many more. In other cases, the best
plan of action will involve customizing one
or more of our offerings to the specific
needs of your organization. And sometimes
it may be necessary to develop courses
and programs from scratch, where every
aspect of the training will be tailored to
your unique environment.

DELIVER
We offer learning opportunities through
a wide range of delivery formats and
scheduling options. Many offering may
be delivered through the internet or as
blended courses, a mix of online and faceto-face
delivery that brings together the
best of each format. Times and dates for
classroom-based activities are flexible.
Classes can take place either on-site at
your organization, at the University of
Alberta main campus, or at our newly
renovated downtown campus at Enterprise
Square, with state-of-the-art teaching
technologies and modern spaces designed
to provide optimal learning experiences.
MEASURE
Measurements are embedded within
the process as an integral step. Factors
assessed at the start of the program are
measured at completion, using tools
such as workplace evaluations, surveys,
employee and client satisfaction, etc.
For longer-duration training programs,
ongoing monitoring through formative
evaluation allows for adjustments if
needed. Results are then shared with and
reported to the client.

CANADA-ALBERTA
JOB GRANT
The Faculty of Extension offers courses and programs
eligible for employee training cost assistance through
the Canada-Alberta Job Grant. We have a wide range
of offerings accepted for this employer-driven training
program, which is available for businesses in all
sectors across Alberta.
