Dear friends,
2021 arrived with the news of vaccines rolling out and the prospect of a
return to in-person, shared experiences in the months ahead. We’re in a
dark moment, but it’s wonderful to think that the clock is running out on
the pandemic that has so deeply impacted all of our lives.
Each of us is responsible for our individual contribution to the communal
good, particularly in a crisis—and for theatres, that has meant continuing
to hold back from in-person gatherings as cases rose.
We’re inspired by how many individuals' actions have carried us forward
during these difficult days. From the artists who’ve chosen to show up and
deliver stunning performances, testing every three days and accepting the
strictest of safety protocols; to the arts professionals, whether backstage
or in the box office, who’ve balanced family needs and an industry
reckoning to nevertheless deliver top-notch work.
Standing behind these remarkable individuals are our community of
friends, first hanging on to tickets as performances shifted dates and into
living rooms, and later choosing to make a gift—or several—when it really
mattered.
This past year has brought many emotions—powerlessness, frustration
with uncertainty, even fear—but maybe now they’re yielding, just a bit, to a
better one: hope.

SHANNON JONES (Co-
Production Coordinator) is the
resident production stage
manager for TheatreSquared,

and Arkansas New Play Festival
workshops since 2014, including
Once, I and You, and All The
Way. Regional work includes
stage management at theatre
across the country, including
Orlando Repertory Theatre and
New London Barn Playhouse.
She holds a B.F.A. in stage
management from the University
of Central Florida.
ROBERT FORD (Artistic Director)
co-founded TheatreSquared in
2005. Unusual among artistic
directors in the American theatre,
he is chiefly a playwright. Most
recently, with Amy Herzberg,
he co-adapted T2's A Christmas
Carol; past seasons have included
Fault, The Spiritualist (also New
Harmony Project and Stages Rep
in Houston), The Fall of the House
(also Alabama Shakespeare
Festival—Edgar Award nominee),
Look Away (also Southern Writers
Project), and 'Twas the Night.
My Father’s War (T2, 2008 and
upcoming in 2020) has appeared
in the UK, Italy, and Germany. He
is winner of the Stanley Drama
Award and the Best Theatre
Award in the Hollywood Fringe,
among others. His critically
acclaimed first novel, The Student
Conductor, was a Barnes & Noble
Discover Great New Writers pick.
He holds a M.Mus. degree from
Yale and M.F.A.'s in acting from
Rutgers and in playwriting &
screenwriting from the Michener
Center for Writers, University of
Texas at Austin.
MARTIN MILLER (Executive
Director) joined T2 in 2009, where
he has produced more than 100
plays and developmental works,
grew the theatre's annual budget
from $160,000 to over $4MM,
and expanded its audience more
than twentyfold. He managed
the design and construction
of T2's new $31MM theatre
center, housing two intimate
venues, an open-all-day café/
bar, artist housing, production
shops, rehearsal space, and
offices. He established the
National Stages Program
(nationalstages.org), a consortium
of producing theatres offering
reciprocal member benefits, and
has served as a panelist for the
National Endowment for the
Arts. As associate producer at
Chicago Shakespeare Theater,
he produced a variety of projects
including the bilingual Romeo
y Julieta with Karen Zacarías.
He is a graduate of Carleton
College and holds an M.F.A. in
arts leadership from The Theatre
School at DePaul.
SAG-AFTRA brings together
two great American labor
unions: Screen Actors Guild
and the American Federation
of Television and Radio Artists.
Both were formed in the turmoil
of the 1930s, with rich histories
of fighting for and securing the
strongest protections for media
artists. Our members united
to form the successor union in
order to preserve those hardwon
rights and to continue the
struggle to extend and expand
those protections into the 21st
century and beyond.
JOCELYN BIOH (Playwright) is a
Ghanaian-American writer/performer
from New York City. NYC acting credits
include In the Blood (Signature Theatre,
Drama Desk Nomination); Everybody
(Signature Theatre, Lortel nomination);
Men On Boats (Playwrights Horizons);
An Octoroon (Soho Rep); Neighbors
(The Public Theater); and The Curious
Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
which won the Tony Award for Best
Play in 2015. Her plays include 2015
Kilroys’ List selection Nollywood
Dreams which was presented in 2017 as
part of The Cherry Lane Mentor Project,
School Girls; Or The African Mean Girls
Play (MCC Theater, 2017/18, Lortel
Award, OCC John Gassner Award,
Hull-Warriner Award, Drama Desk
Nomination, Drama League Nomination,
Off Broadway Alliance Nomination,
Kilroys’ List 2016), African Americans

of which she conceived the story and
