HOW LEARNING LOOKS VIRTUALLY
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has forced a
global experiment that could change how students learn
forever. Virtual interaction has become the norm and for
training, technology has enabled instructors to transform
and enhance the learning experience. While e-learning
has always been a focal point for the Fastener Training
Institute (FTI), we have further invested to offer hybrid,
in-person, or completely virtual training.
Our on-line training includes a library with over 40
topics ideal for microlearning. Each training video is
short and focused on a specific topic making it easy
for students to watch, learn, and apply. The training
videos are no more than 90 minutes and include quizzes,
materials and use of webcams for the most interactive
experience.
For more in-depth topics, we have also incorporated
full day courses to the virtual platform starting with
“Fastening 101– Understanding Threaded Fasteners
and the Industry That Produces Them”. This two-part
series includes 8 hours of instruction and explores some
fastener engineering and design basics plus how parts are
made. It is ideal for fastener manufacturers, distributors
and end-users and offers a thorough understanding of
the fastener industry including products, applications,
materials and more.
Our acclaimed Fastener Training Week (FTW) and
esteemed Certified Fastener Specialist (CFS) program has
adopted a hybrid element adding virtual plant tours to the
curriculum. With the support and help from our industry
partners, FTI students anywhere can now tour a fastener
manufacturer, quality lab, and secondary process facility.

instruction with opportunities to network and engage with
