Tripping Characteristics<br />

Every trip unit and every trip function<br />

has its own characteristic. You will find<br />

just a small section of these illustrated<br />

below. The characteristics show the<br />

respective greatest and smallest setting<br />

range of WL Circuit Breakers.<br />

To obtain a complete release<br />

characteristic, the appropriate<br />

characteristic functions must be<br />

determined.<br />

The characteristics show the behavior<br />

of the overcurrent release when it is<br />

activated by a current already flowing<br />

before tripping. If the overcurrent<br />

trip takes place immediately after<br />

closing and the overcurrent release is<br />

therefore not yet activated, the opening<br />

time is prolonged by about 3 to 10<br />

ms, depending on the value of the<br />

overcurrent.<br />
