INTRODUCTION 

The role of a leisure team member is to support, enhance and deliver the dayto-day 

operations and services of a leisure or fitness facility. Working as part of 

a team, the leisure team member carries out a range of operational duties such 

as assisting with the opening and closing of the facility, undertaking routine 

maintenance of equipment, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the 

environment. The leisure team member therefore plays a vital role in promoting 

a positive customer experience.

INTRODUCTION 

Mentoring occurs throughout the education and training sector (ETS) and staff 

development, with Learning Mentors (LMs) supporting learners at all levels – 

such as apprentices, trainees or new recruits – to develop within new work 

roles. 

LMs support the development of knowledge, skills and behaviours, particularly 

in applying theoretical learning in practical contexts. They give practical, 

technical and pastoral support, collaborating with colleagues, other ETS 

professionals, employers and human resource colleagues to unlock learners’ 

potential.

INTRODUCTION 

Assessor/Coaches (ACs) support vocational and professional development
