Kilen offers one of the widest ranges of replacement Gas Springs
available on the European market today for tailgates and bonnets.
The range covers the majority of cars found in the European market.
Kilen Gas Springs are stock items and available for order in both
small and large quantities.
Kilen Gas Springs consists of a tube, a piston and a piston rod.
The tube is filled with high pressure nitrogen, forcing the piston
and piston rod to extend. The gas pressure is precisely set during
manufacture to obtain the correct spring force depending on, for
example, the weight of the rear hatch.
The Gas Spring contains some oil to lubricate the seals, piston and
piston rod. The oil also works as a damper when the spring nears
full extension.
Kilen Gas Springs are packed in strong attractively designed boxes,
complete with application data and part number to ensure that
customers receive the correct Gas Spring for the desired application.
Kilen also offer a wide range of standard and heavy duty replacement
coil springs, lowering springs and leaf springs.
Important information
1. Do not try to open or drill into a Gas Spring, it is filled with oil
and high pressure gas.
2. For safety Gas Springs should always be replaced in pairs.
3. Before fitting a Kilen Gas Spring, please compare its design,
length and fitting points against the original part to ensure the
correct part has been selected.
4. Check the fitting points on the body of the vehicle and repair or
replace them if they are damaged.
5. There is a risk that the weight of the tailgate could be too heavy
for the Gas Spring designed with original elevating power if the
car has been fitted with extra equipment such as spoilers, blinds
or hi-fi speakers.
6. A Gas Springs elevating abilities deteriorate progressively as
temperatures get colder.
7. Since it is the Gas Spring which holds open the tailgate or
bonnet please ensure some other means of support whilst
replacing the Gas Spring, to avoid the risk of injury.
