What do you say when a lady like Val comes into your home, takes one look around at your new work and
with a big heartfelt offer says “Have a one man show with me, now!?”
“Yes, of course!” is the only answer. “Yes please, thank you!”
Affirmation is the key to almost any artist’s progress, especially when your painting is your life’s work (which it
usually is with most of the artists I know!) So that’s how the show came to be, quite magically.
The pictures are painted over the last three years, mainly in and around the studio and garden and along the
Dorset coast. The trigger for this work; the source of energy and power, which was almost electric in its
nature, was the arrival of model Chloé Sorin, to whom I am enormously grateful. Her presence, commitment
and humour, being a never ending spring of wonderful imagery.
I hope all the work speaks for itself, really. All I can say is that to try and capture something of the human spirit,
in tems of aura and radiance, is nothing but a joy to do. I hope so much that this is what comes across in each
and every one of these pictures, and that they are enjoyed for this reason above all else.
