TecFestnz 2021 gears up

Covid-19’s major impact on the world at large
has affected all of us individually in some
way. But New Zealand has been incredibly fortunate
and most business have been able to adapt
to the changes. In many cases there has been an
upturn in trade due to domestic tourism with
locals rediscovering what a wonderful back yard
we really have. Diving is one such business experiencing
unexpected growth, with people diving and
shopping locally.
TecFestNZ 2020 was one of the casualties of the
lockdown earlier this year, frustrating, but unavoidable.
Rather than cancel, steps were quickly made
to reschedule the event for the same time frame in
2021.
Doing so has meant we had the benefit of allowing
more time for planning and to offer a bigger and
better event, with the possibility of international
key speakers and more exhibits.
It has also allowed dive centres, clubs and dive
operators more time to promote the event to
old and new clients, bringing the dive community
together for what is New Zealand’s only dive
festival.
With TecFestNZ 2021 at a new location closer to
Taupo town, there is a greater range of accommodation
options and far larger audience capacity at
the Suncourt Conference Centre for workshops and
presentations.
Remember TecFestNZ is not only for technical divers;
there is a big focus at the event for divers interested
who want to give tech a go, by trying out numerous
dive configurations while being coached by New
Zealand’s leading technical divers.
