Atricch! (f.) [Sk. *at%pty!, a + t%pt + y!, influenced by Desid. tit%psati, so that atricch! phonetically rather<br />

corresponds to a form *a. -- t%psy! (cch = psy, cp. P. ch!ta Sk. ps!ta). For the simple Sk. t%pti see titti (from<br />

tappati2). According to Kern, but phonetically hardly justifiable it is Sk. at"ccha = ati + icch! "too much<br />

desire", with r in dissolution of geminated tt, like atraja for attaja. See also atriccha adj. and cp. J.P.T.S.<br />

Athabba*a [Vedic atharvan; as regards etym. see Walde, Lat. Wtb. under ater] (1) the Atharva Veda DA<br />

i.247 = SnA 447 (˚veda). -- (2) one who is familiar with the (magic formulas of the) Atharvaveda J vi.490<br />
