Kattik!
Kattik! (f.) (& ˚kattika) [cp. Sk. k%ttik! f. pl. the Pleiades & BSk. karthika] N. of a month (Oct. -- Nov.),
during which the full moon is near the constellation of Pleiades. It is the last month of the rainy season,
terminating on the full moon day of Kattik! (kattika -- pu**am!). This season is divided into 5 months:
4s!)ha, S!va*a, Bhaddara (Po&&hap!da), Assayuja, Kattik!; the month Assayuja is also called pubba --
kattik!, whereas the fifth, K., is also known as pacchima -- kattik!; both are comprised in the term k. --
dvem!sika. Bhikkhus retiring for the first 3 months of the Vassa (rainy season) are kattika -- tem!sik!, if
they include the 4th, they are k. -- c!tum!sik!. The full moon of Assayuja is termed k. -- tem!sin"; that of
