Acchariya (adj. -- nt.) [cp. Sk. !$carya since Upanishads of uncertain etym. -- The conventional etym. of
P!li grammarians connects it with acchar!1 (which is prob. correct & thus reduces Sk. !$carya to a
Sanskritisation of acchariya) viz. Dhammap!la: anabhi*ha -- ppavattit!ya acchar!pahara*a -- yogga' that
which happens without a moment's notice, at the snap of a finger; i. e. causally unconnected (cp. Goth. silda
-- leiks in similar meaning) VvA 329; and Buddhaghosa: acchar! -- yoggan ti acchariya' acchara'
