Abbh!matta (adj.) [abbh! + matta (?) according to the P!li Com.; but more likely = Vedic abhva huge,<br />

enormous, monstrous, with ! metri causa. On abhva (a + bh( what is contradictory to anything that is) cp.<br />

abbhuta & abbhu', and see Walde, Lat. Wtb. under dubius] monstrous, dreadful, enormous, "of the size of<br />

a large cloud" (thus C. on S i.205 & J iii.309) S i.205 = Th 1, 652 (v. l. abbha˚ & abbh!mutta) = J iii.309 (v.<br />

l. ˚mutta).<br />
