Y!disa (adj.) [Vedic y!d%$ & y!d%sa, yad+d%$a] which like, what like, whichever, how much; in neg.
sentence: any, whatever little. -- Pv. ii.119 (= y!va mahanto PvA 77). -- Often combd with k"disa in
meaning "any one, this or that, whoever," e. g. Vv 5014 (=yo v! so v! pacura -- jano ti attho VvA 213). As
adj.: y!disi (sic!=Sk. y!d%$") -- k"dis! j"vik! (no livelihood, whatever little) J vi.584 (v.728; Trenckner, Miln
p. 423 gives v. 732!), expld by C as "y! v! s! v!, l!mak! ti attho"; y!disa' k"disa' d!na' a gift of whatever
kind Miln 278. So also with t!disa: y!dis! v! t!dis! v! (viz. k!m!) of whichever kind A iii.5.
Y!disaka
Y!disaka=y!disa; in correlation (generalising sense) y!disaka -- t!disaka whatsoever . . . such, any
whatsoever A iv.308; S v.96.
Y!na
Y!na (nt.) [fr. y!, as in y!ti. Cp. Vedic y!na and Lat. Janus] 1. going, proceeding J vi.415 (+ay!na, opposed
to &h!na). -- 2. means of motion, carriage, vehicle. Different kinds of carriages are enumd at Nd1 145 (on
Sn 816) with hatthi˚ (elephant -- ), go˚ (cow -- ), aja˚ (goat -- ), me*.aka˚ (ram -- ), o&&ha˚ (camel -- ?),
khara˚ (donkey -- ). Cp. Miln 276. -- y!na is one of the requisites (carriage or other means of locomotion)
of the bhikkhu & as such included in the deyya -- dhamma or 14 gifts (see yañña & deyya -- dh.). Thus
mentioned with anna p!na vattha etc. at S i.94; A ii.85; Pug 51. -- Cp. the defn & application of the term
y!na as given below under y!na -- sannidhi. -- See e. g. the foll. passages: Vin i.191 (bhikkh( y!nena

& Brahma˚ magga the way leading to the Brahma -- world D i.220. -- 2. (in appld meaning, cp. y!nikata)
