Phu&a3 at M i.377 (sabba -- v!ri˚, in sequence with v!rita, yuta, dhuta) is unnecessarily changed by Kern,
Toev. s. v. into p(ta. The meaning is "filled with, spread with," thus=phu&a1, cp. sequence under ophu&a.
The v. l. at M i.377 is pu&&ha. On miswriting of phu&&a & pu&&ha for phu&a cp. remark by Trenckner, M
i.553. A similar meaning ("full of, occupied by, overflowing with") is attached to phu&a in Av"ci passage A
i.159 (Av"ci maññe phu&o ahosi), cp. An!gata Va'sa (J.P.T.S. 1886, v.39) & remarks of Morris's J.P.T.S.
