Phalina
Phalina (adj.) [fr. phala, phalin?] at J v.92 is of doubtful meaning. It cannot very well mean "bearing fruit,"
since it is used as Ep. of a bird (˚saku*"). The Cy. expln is saku*a -- potak!na' phalinatt! (being a source of
nourishment?) phalina -- saku*"." The v. l. SS is phal"na & pal"na.

Phalu [cp. Vedic paru] a knot or joint in a reed, only in cpd. ˚b"ja (plants) springing (or propagated) from a

Phaleti at D i.54 is spurious reading for paleti (see pal!- yati), expld by gacchati DA i.165; meaning "runs,"
not with trsln "spreads out" [to sphar].

Phallava is spelling for pallava sprout, at J iii.40.

Phassa1 [cp. Ved. spar$a, of sp%$: see phusati] contact, touch (as sense or sense -- impression, for which
usually pho&&habba'). It is the fundamental fact in a senseimpression, and consists of a combination of the
sense, the object, and perception, as expld at M i.111: ti**a' (i. e. cakkhu, r(p!, cakkhu -- viññ!*a) sangati
