Perita is Kern's (Toev. s. v.) proposed reading for what he considered a faulty spelling in bhaya -- merita (p<br />

for m) J iv.424=v.359. This however is bhaya -- m -- erita with the hiatus -- m, and to supplant perita (=Sk.<br />

prerita) is unjustified.<br />
