The efficient, though discreet, research and dissemination work that the historian and our great loriguense António Conde has been doing for decades, has borne many fruits, and much of the information about Loriga released there is due to the initiative of this great Loriguense. This great Loriguense researches the history of Loriga for about 30 years, at the expense of much sacrifice and many personal expenses, creating a rich work, which can be read extracts on many sites, including articles on Loriga in English and Portuguese that he created on Wikipedia. This article was vandalized with the main objectives of introducing an illegal and non-representative “coat of arms” of Loriga, and erasing from the sources the author of this article because he opposes for this illegality to affect the image of this town and of the own Wikipedia. However the illegal heraldic aberration was finally removed from the article in 2017, failing to restore in the sources the links that point to the author of the same and correct the other errors introduced. Loriga e a sua região possuem enormes potencialidades turísticas e as únicas pistas e estância de esquiexistentes em Portugal estão localizadas na Serra da Estrela, dentro da área da freguesia de Loriga.ToponímiaA rua da Oliveira é uma rua situada no centro histórico da vila. A suaescadaria tem cerca de 80 degraus em granito, o que lhe dá característicaspeculiares. Esta rua recorda muitas das características urbanas medievais.O bairro de São Ginês é um bairro do centro histórico de Loriga cujascaracterísticas o tornam num dos bairros mais típicos da vila. As melhoresfestas de São João eram feitas aqui. Curioso é o facto de este bairro dever onome a São Gens, um santo de origem céltica matirizado em Arles, na Gália,no tempo do imperador Diocleciano, orago de uma ermida visigótica situadana área. Com o passar dos séculos os loriguenses mudaram o nome do santopara S. Ginês, talvez por ser mais fácil de pronunciar, e finalmenteRua da Oliveira.abandonaram o culto e mudaram o orago da sua ermida para Nossa Senhorado Carmo. Actualmente essa ermida tem um aspecto mais moderno e exibe adata da sua última reconstrução factos que induzem os visitantes em erro. Este núcleo da povoação, que jáesteve separado do principal e mais antigo, situado mais abaixo, é anterior à chegada dos romanos.FestividadesAo longo do ano celebram-se de maneira especial o Natal, a Páscoa (com a Amenta das Almas - cantosnocturnos masculinos, que evocam as almas de entes falecidos por altura da Quaresma), festas em honra de Sto.António (durante o mês Junho) e S. Sebastião (no último Domingo de Julho), com as respectivas mordomias eprocissões. Porém, o ponto mais alto das festividades religiosas é a festa dedicada à padroeira de Loriga, Nª.Srª. da Guia, que se realiza todos os anos, no primeiro Domingo de Agosto. No segundo Domingo, tem lugar afesta em honra de Nª. Srª. da Ajuda, no Fontão de Loriga.GastronomiaA gastronomia loriguense faz parte daquela considerada típica da Beira Alta, onde se salientam os pratoscalóricos de alta montanha, os enchidos, a feijoada (com feijocas, uma espécie de feijão branco, maior que ohabitual), o cabrito no forno, a broa de milho, queijaria de ovelha e cabra, nomeadamente o queijo da Serra(com DOP), a aguardente de zimbro. Grande parte dos doces e sobremesas típicas eram elaboradas paracelebrar a Páscoa. De entre os doces, têm relevo as broínhas doces, o arroz doce, o carolo (doce feito commilho), a botelha (sobremesa feito com abóbora), a tapioca (sobremesa parecida ao arroz doce, feita comtapioca partida em grãos - importada pela comunidade loriguense no Brasil) e o Bolo Negro de Loriga. Aimportância da gastronomia única é reflectida na Confraria da Broa e do Bolo Negro de Loriga.
