APPLY<br />
Admission to programs in Studio <strong>Art</strong>,<br />
Photography, Graphic Design, or<br />
Illustration <strong>and</strong> Animation requires<br />
an art portfolio. You are required to<br />
submit a portfolio of 12-15 examples<br />
of your best artwork. A list of the titles<br />
<strong>and</strong> media for each image should<br />
be included. An artist statement or<br />
statement of your artistic aspirations is<br />
optional. If you do not have a portfolio<br />
at the time of application, you will be<br />
considered a conditional <strong>Art</strong> major<br />
<strong>and</strong> a faculty advisor will evaluate<br />
your work after your first semester.<br />
Additionally, portfolios will be reviewed<br />
for art scholarship consideration.<br />
Portfolios may be submitted on the<br />
admissions portal once the application<br />
for admission is completed. Please see<br />

EXHIBIT IN<br />
THE HEWITT<br />
GALLERY OF ART<br />
The Hewitt Gallery of <strong>Art</strong> is a professional gallery <strong>and</strong><br />
laboratory where you can gain firsth<strong>and</strong> experience<br />
in exhibition practices. Marymount Manhattan<br />
students curate, install, <strong>and</strong> present their work in<br />
individual <strong>and</strong> group exhibitions. The Gallery is<br />
also known in the New York art community as an<br />
alternative exhibition space, showcasing the work of<br />
emerging <strong>and</strong> established contemporary artists. In<br />
addition, Gallery receptions give you opportunities<br />
to engage with professional artists, critics, collectors,<br />
<strong>and</strong> curators. Many of the exhibiting artists are also<br />
guest presenters in our classes.<br />
<strong>Art</strong> <strong>History</strong> applicants are not required<br />
to submit a portfolio, but may submit<br />
a five- to seven-page research paper<br />
on either a specific artist or artistic<br />
movement to be considered for an art<br />
scholarship. This may be submitted<br />
to the Office of Admission via email.<br />

is for consideration for the <strong>Art</strong> <strong>History</strong><br />
