A-MPC/B-MPI handheld unit type with distributor (left)<br />
The handheld unit (HHU) is suitable for manual operation<br />
(e.g. axis feed movements) on machine tools equipped with<br />
the SINUMERIK 840C, 840D/810D controls or FM-NC controls.<br />
The special shape of the plastic housing makes it easy<br />
to operate with either the right or the left hand.<br />
When used in conjunction with a specially designed distribution<br />
box a UL version is available for U.S.A. and Canada.<br />
Features<br />
With the HHU, it is permissible (when observing the general conditions<br />
of the relevant standards) to move the machine tool axes<br />
at machining speed with the guard door open.<br />
The HHU is equipped with<br />
• a membrane keyboard with 20 freely assignable single-stroke<br />
keys, which can be labelled with insertable strips,<br />
• 16 LEDs,<br />
• an electronic handwheel with indexing,<br />
• a two-line LC display for 2 x 16 alphanumeric characters,<br />
• an emergency Stop button, with two channels<br />
• two acknowledgement switches, each of two channels<br />
• a rapid traverse/feedrate override switch,<br />
• a single-stage keyswitch,<br />
• a coiled connecting cable which extends to 3.5 m,<br />
or a 10 m cable<br />
• a support clip and magnetic clamp.<br />
No additional PLC inputs/outputs are needed for the LEDs and<br />
all the other functions of the handheld unit. The HHU is connected<br />
via a distributor to the DMP line (for 840C) or to the MPI line<br />
(for the 810D/840D or FM-NC). The distributor is intended for<br />
installation in a switching cabinet or separate housing. The<br />
distributor splits up the HHU signals into PLC signals (key signals,<br />
keyswitch, feedrate override switch, display) via the RS 485<br />
interface, and into the signals for handwheel, emergency Stop<br />
and acknowledgement switches. External power is also supplied<br />
to the HHU via the distributor.<br />
