Odds and Ends – Fr. Paul
“When it’s hot, it’s hot” was a common refrain last
week. Even our air-conditioner needed to take a break,
fortunately it was a minor problem and all went well for
that day’s funeral. Once a month I’ll have this “Odds and
Ends” column. It allows me the freedom to just mention a
few things without great detail and yet to let you know I
am thinking about them and you.
�� A welcome to our new Principal, Staff, and
Teachers of the Seven Holy Founders Campus of
the Holy Cross Academy.
�� Good luck to the many youth participating in the
Athletic Association’s sports programs.
�� A well done to those who prayed with us during
the Catholic Bishops “Fortnight of Prayer for Religious
Freedom”.
�� A great year is ahead for the Knights of Columbus
whose officers were installed June 24 th . I am
glad to be their Chaplain. Come join us.
�� Baptisms will be by appointment as we move
away from the Sacrament being available on two
Sundays a month.
�� Bro. Joel Lechner, OSM takes on a new role as a
full-time Pastoral Associate. His office is in the
Priory Parish Office.
�� Bro. Arnaldo Sanchez, OSM continues as the
Director Parish Religious Education and Faith
Formation. His office is located in the former
School Health Room.
�� Various staff members will be taking vacation
breaks during the summer.
�� Welcome back to Gail Duvall, recovering from
needed hip and knee surgery.

decide whether to sign or veto SB 749.
This bill makes sure that no one is forced
to pay for abortions or contraceptives in
their health insurance plans. Contact the
Governor today. Tell him abortion is not health care and
you don’t want to pay for it in your health plan. Urge him

this Monday evening, July 9th, from
5pm to 8pm. Please consider spending
some quiet and prayerful time in Adoration
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2nd SHF Women’s ACTS Retreat
(Adoration, Community, Theology and Service)
July 26-29th, Sojourn Retreat Center, Dittmer,
MO. Join us for the 2nd SHF Women's ACTS
Retreat at Sojourn Retreat Center. Retreat starts on
Thursday evening with a brief prayer service at SHF. Participants
are provided transportation to and from the Retreat
Center. Concludes with 11am Mass back at SHF
and a luncheon immediately following Mass. For more

Joseph recorded the ace on his very first shot of the day,
highlighting the fine play of his silver medal round & consecutive
top-3 finished (3rd straight CYC Final). Well
done and on to high school to John (consecutive top-10
finishes & 3rd straight City/County Final) and congratulations
as well to Nathaniel (2nd straight CYC Final).
SHF PARISH BINGO NEEDS YOU!!!
It’s been almost 2 years since we began BINGO at SHF
and thanks to the generosity of the classes of 2011 and
2012 the BINGO equipment has been paid in full early,
making every BINGO more profitable, but we need your
help. We are currently looking for 6 people to work in a
variety of spots for our BINGO’S. In addition this is how
we would like to handle our workers in the future. We are
asking each person to be part of a team consisting of 8
people. Each team will work 2 Bingos over the course of
the year. You can create your own team, or just let us
know if you would like to be assigned to a team. Please
contact any of us listed below. Finally we are looking for
an individual to run and close the concession stand for
Bingos from 5:00-9:30pm. Contact us for more details.

Your Help is needed for Holy Cross Academy
As most of you know Annunciation School is going to become Holy Cross Academy Middle School next fall. In order to
make this transition there are many things that need to be accomplished in the school before August 16. This is why we
are asking for the assistance of parishioners and especially all middle school parents. We have a list of items to complete
and we have been meeting with Amie Koenen, the President of Holy Cross Academy, and representatives of St.
Michael’s , Our Lady of Providence and Seven Holy Founders. In these meetings we have prioritized each item as to
importance. We are planning on having more meetings for all who are interested to help with these tasks. We are asking
everyone, and again, especially the Middle School parents to plan on attending. Meeting dates will be published
soon. This will be a great opportunity for all High School Students to obtain needed service hours. We will attempt to
keep these meetings short and focused on the tasks that need to be completed before the start of school to address all
needs at these locations. Thank you in advance for your help and we all understand that to make Holy Cross Academy
be successful it will be truly a team effort. If you can help please contact one of us below and let us know your skill.
