“Plastic is everywhere and it seems it will be there for many years to come.
Nor is the search for its reuse new and every day there are new proposals to give it new
uses instead of going directly to continue building mountains of garbage. This is why,
inspired by the work of the Guatemalan designer Micaella Pedros who uses plastic bottles
as dry joints between pieces of wood to build basic furniture, I have used the same
principle of joints based on the thermal contraction of the cylinders from the plastic
bottle to make this piece. The Wood + Wrap Chair, which is nothing more than the combination
of two materials, one noble and renewable (wood) and the other, practically
impossible to degrade and poorly weighted (plastic), in an object of common use that
gives plastic a new use.
The Wood + Wrap Chair is made up of a series of wooden pieces of different shapes
and sizes and approximately 32 plastic bottles that function as joints between them.”
