The Future of Electronic Payments is Already Here In the two decades since PRWORA dictated that all states move to a centrally located State Disbursement Unit, electronic payments and disbursements have skyrocketed. Many child support transactions are completely electronic, from the moment a parent or employer initiates payment to the moment the other parent receives the funds in a bank account or on a card. That said, there are still parents and employers who haven’t adopted electronic payment options. Sometimes, this is just a matter of resistance to change, but other times, obstacles stand in the way.
