SOUTH CENTRAL REPORT
South Central Student Services Administrators partnered on the following initiatives:
Children's Therapy Initiative - Demonstration Project
• A regional steering committee made up of various stakeholders including Student
Services Administrators was formed to review children's therapy services presently
offered in the region. Through funding received from Family Services and Housing,
Health and Education, Training Citizenship and Youth a regional coordinator was
hired to collect data from the Regional Health Authority - Central Region. The
purpose of the data collection is to identify similarities, differences, gaps and barriers
to pediatric therapy services in the region and to make recommendations for a
service delivery model.
South Central Intersectoral Committee
• Student Services Administrators in South Central Region took the lead in establishing
a regional intersectoral committee whose mandate is to address issues in areas such
as mental health services, program supports and information sharing between :
agencies.
Regional Numeracy Project
« A regional partnership made up of all school divisions in South Central Region
committed funding to develop divisional leadership teams whose mandate is to
address early numeracy in the areas of assessment and programming.
Professional Development
The South Central Region Student Services Administrators group provided the following PD
opportunities in 2003:
February 2003
"Solving School Problems: Strategies for Principals, Teachers and Counsellors".
