Student Services Administrators' Association of Manitoba Annual General Meeting December 2003 Professional Development Report: As Professional Development chairperson, I would like to thank the Professional Development committee for their time and support in planning this year's conference. Thank you Twyla Kastrukoff, Bill Warren, Paul Gillespie & Olia lesson. The committee met three times to organize and to finalize details for the Annual Conference on December 4th & 5th, 2003 at the Victoria Inn, Brandon. The following was confirmed: Thursday, December 4l Feature Speaker - Tim Lucas "Tools for Managing Change Initiative" Evening - Wine & cheese Reception Friday, December 5th SSAAM's Future Path - Larry Bremner AGM A new initiative this year was to partner with MECY in organizing the 2004 Student .: Services Conference. I have attended three meetings and preliminary workshop :• information has been distributed. The workshop will be held on May 7, 2004, at the Centro Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Avenue, Winnipeg. The topic is "Issues in Education, Policy to Practice" with Stuart Whitley, QC, as the featured speaker. Looking ahead to the 2004 Annual Conference, the dates of December 2nd & 3rd have been booked at the Victoria Inn, Brandon. The conference theme will link into the future focus of SSAAM. Division : Priorities 1. Promotion and development of Literacy skills at all levels 2. Emphasis on cultural and linguistic vitality of our students and communities 3. Integration of technology for communication and information purposes 4. Establishment of pre-school centres in all our communities B. Student Services Priorities: 1. Support, training and maintenance of literacy programs and initiatives 2. Support, training and maintenance of behavioural programs 3. Support for inclusion of all students with IEP, and Behavioral Plans, and Health Plans 4.
