School and Division Planning-Letter sent to school divisions as of May 15,
2003. This outlines the reporting requirements for School, Division and
Student Services Plans. The ADAP will no longer be required but rather an
integrated or separate Student Services Plan (form available). Divisions are
encouraged to maintain a compilation of policies and directives in their
Student Services Binder that would be available for parents. Divisions are
also encouraged to continue to engage in a planning process with families.
The submission to the department is a report on the plan, not a plan in its
entirety.
Categorical Grant Support-Submissions for the 2003-04 school year are
due May 30th for ECDI, AAA and ELI, June 30 for EBI and on the assigned
dates for Special needs.
Student Services Grant-Ongoing pilot for 2003-2004. Data collection has
been completed for year 1 and a working committee is developing the
financial accountability piece in consultation with Secretary Treasurers.
Document Development-The School Support Unit will be, or are, consulting
on the following documents that are in development:
• Working Together: A guide to dispute resolution for Schools, Families
and Communities
• Building School Partnership: A handbook, for Parents, Families, Councils
and the School Community
• Aboriginal Parents, Families and School Involvement: Making it Work
• Children with Special Needs: a guide for Schools, Families and
Communities
• Incorporating Aboriginal Perspectives in Curriculum
• Supporting Inclusive Schools: A handbook for developing and
implementing programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Para educator Framework
• School Planning
