Cloud Shapes Silhouettes and Brushes
Photoshop Creator
This set contains 6 Photoshop actions that will allow you to create realistic cloud
shapes, silhouettes and brushes out of any text, shape, raster. The clouds effect can
easily be modified and customized after the action is ended. You can use one of the 4 clouds
brushes and 4 sun flare brushes included in this pack.
The end result has the layers intact so that you can customize and edit the effect as
you will see in the customization section.
Package contents
This package contains 1 ATN file (Photoshop action), 1 ABR (Photoshop brush), 1
ASL (Photoshop style) and this PDF Help file.
How to use this pack
1. Install the files found in the package(ABR and ASL). There are several options to

install the file and one of them is going to Photoshop File>Open and select the file to load it.
You have to install these files first otherwise the action won't work properly.
2. Install the CLOUDS-CREATOR-by-PSDDUDE.atn Photoshop action file that is
the main file of this pack.
3. Open a new PSD file, add your text, shape, graphics in a new layer and remove
the background layer if there is one. You have to have only one layer.
4. Make sure that the Brush Tool has the Normal mode selected and the opacity
100%
5. Choose the one of the 6 actions
6. Click Play and wait the result.
User Customization
The action stops while is being played so that you can edit different settings like layer
styles, shadow, color, etc. Many of these settings can be changed and customized after the
action is ended.
After the action is ended you have a number of layers that you can edit and customize.
There are two types of actions so I will explain them separately:
1. The action named: “clouds effect by psddude(for photos, graphics)”are the
actions that starting from your initial image(raster image, photo cutout, vector graphics)
return as a result a sky image with cloud effect. The action returns the following layers:
- “Hue/Saturation” adjustment layer – allows you to change the hue and/or
saturation of the result.
- “Brightness/Contrast” adjustment layer – allows you to change the brightness
and/or contrast of the result.
- “Photo Filter” adjustment layer – allows you to add a color filter using a color
tone that you like.
- “add sun flare brushes” and “add clouds brushes” layers – allows you to add
sun flares or clouds using the brushes included in this pack. You can use for these
layers the layer styles also included(“cloud style” and “sun flare” style inside the
ASL)
- “clouds effect by psddude” smart object – this object contains the actual
clouds effect. So inside you have a number of layers that you can customize:
- “clouds effect 3” - you can hide this layer or you can reduce its
opacity level
- “clouds effect 2” - you can hide this layer, you can reduce its opacity
level, you can hide the layer mask of the layer, you can edit the

Bevel and Emboss style
- “clouds effect 1” - you can hide this layer, you can reduce its opacity
level. You can also play with the layer mask; click on the layer mask,
and hide it. Another thing that you can do is to use the
Brightness/Contrast or the Threshold to change the mask effect.
- “your image” - you can hide this layer or you can play with the Drop
Shadow and Stroke layer styles.
- “clouds” - this layer has an effect of clouds that you can either keep
or hide
- “sky” - this is a smart object that it is NOT OPTIONAL; you have to
keep this layer in order to obtain the clouds effect. You can however
change its color or even add your own sky background.
Save the smart object and close it to see the result. This object has 3 Smart
Filters that you can also adjust and customize. Double click on each smart object and change
the settings.
IMPORTANT:
As every image is unique in terms of color, contrast, level of detail, size, etc, the best
thing is to play with different settings and choose the best result. The big size images will
have a better level of detail.
This action returns an image with a background included. If you want a isolated
clouds effect you have to use the “BONUS: create clouds brush by psddude(for
photos, graphics)” action. The same thing is applied to the next two actions.
2. The action named: ““clouds effect 1 by psddude(for text/shape)”, “clouds effect 2 by
psddude(for text/shape)” are the actions that starting from your initial image(text or
shape) return as a result a sky image with cloud effect.
– All the layers are identical with the layers presented for the previous
action, except the layers inside the “clouds effect by psddude” smart
object . This smart object has only 3 layers inside the most important being the
“your text/shape” layer. You can again play with the layer styles that this layer
has and choose the best result.

3. The actions named “create clouds brush” actually creates a cloud brush that
you can use in your designs as any other brush. You get to make all the
adjustments and customizations you want before you resume play to create the
brush.
4. The action named “Create lens flare” allows you to add a optical effect using
the Photoshop Lens Flare filter. After playing one of the 3 actions presented
above you can play this action.
