DESCRIPTION This manual describes how the smoke detector with RF functionality operates. Thanks to the integrated Easywave transmitter and receiver, you can • interconnect up to 30 smoke detectors without having to provide cabling between the smoke detectors. • teach the RF signal from these smoke detectors to another Easywave receiver and thus link it with Nikobus • activate the smoke detectors using another Easywave transmitter (wall-mount transmitter, hand-held transmitter, …) • extend a network of wired smoke detectors wirelessly This smoke detector is derived from the standard Niko smoke detector (type 420-00000). For installation methods and options, please refer to the attached manual for this standard smoke detector. The integrated Easywave transmitter/receiver is part of the Niko RF (Radio Frequency) system: Important note: This smoke detector is designed for use in a residential environment and must always be connected in accordance with local regulations. 2. INSTALLATION AND CONNECTIONS Connection, fitting, installation and emergency power supply: see basic smoke detector manual. (PM420-0000X). Range between smoke detectors Remote control devices such as tv, video and audio will not suffer interference due to the Easywave transmitter in the smoke detector. The range indoors is ±30m, and 100m in open spaces. The transmission range depends upon the materials used in the building. You can use the diagnostic unit 05-370 to determine the RF signal strength in a given environment. The device detects all 868.3 MHz signals. The reception quality of the transmission signal or the strength of any interference signals that may be present are indicated by 9 LEDs. In this way you can determine whether the range of the RF transmitter is sufficient.
