NATIONAL MAKE A DOG'S DAY
National Make a Dog's Day invites all dog owners to dedicate
this special day to giving extra love and appreciation to their
"best friend" while also bringing awareness to the importance of
shelter adoption, particularly of those dogs with special needs.
Referred to as "underdogs," dogs with physical impairments
tend to be overlooked and underestimated. Well, that is until
you meet Bernie Welch... Bernie's story follows this page along
with many photos and tributes from each of our employees who
are dog owners. During the creation of this book, we were
proud to discover that many of our employees have adopted
their dogs from shelters or other rescue organizations!
We invite you to visit any of our branch locations (including the
drive-thru) to pickup a FREE special goodie for your furry friend!

MEET: BERNIE, THE WONDER DOG
"Bernie is our three-legged wonder dog. He was recently hit by a truck–
necessitating the amputation of one of his hind legs – but his resilience
and determination have amazed us. Many people told us it would take
our family longer to get used to his missing leg than it
would take him, and they couldn't have been
more right. He left the vet's office the day
after his amputation walking on his own
three legs and has been blowing our minds
with his strength and creativity ever since.
We assumed losing a leg would make it
difficult for him to walk, run, jump, and climb,
but we've been proven wrong at every turn.
Bernie hasn't let losing a leg stop him from
doing the things he loves."

sensitive girl, but is quite the opportunist when it comes
to food and table scraps! Kinley is a black lab/heeler mix
and she was adopted from the Fairbanks animal shelter
in 2012. She loves fetching balls and swimming!
