It hasn’tbeen easy; however, the challenges we have faced have offeredmoments of inspiration that remind us about what is trulyimportant, encouraging us and clarifying our focus on makingthe world a better place for our families and communities—toinclude our Girl Scout family.One of the greatest inspirations and encouragements I havereceived during this time, has been the privilege and blessingto see our Gold Award Girl Scout candidates bring their visionsand plans to life, despite the presentation of new and unfamiliarobstacles. It is humbling and heartwarming to see these girlsin action; to be a small part of their journey as they prepare tolead the way to a better future for all. I have missed seeing ouramazing girls and volunteers in-person—to cheer on our Citrus
Family, of whom I am so very proud, as we grow inmaking a difference in our local communities andour world.As the staff team prepares for the start of anotherGirl Scout year, we KNOW it will not look anythinglike our traditional Girl Scouting, at least for a while.I do not see this as entirely unfortunate. We havelearned, adapted, and found tools that will only addto our reach and impact on girls as they strive tosucceed. I believe creating HYBRID opportunitiesand offering more points of engagement willcertainly be the clarion call of 2021—and I’m verygood with that idea.I call upon each of us, even though we findourselves in difficult times, to take a few momentsand reflect upon the many blessings we continueto enjoy at Citrus Council. At the top of my longlist is, as always, our girls, and their unwaveringspirits. They are our inspiration, our guiding force,and at the core of everything we do. They arewhy we believe in the power of our Movement. Iam grateful for the gift of knowing our incrediblegirls, especially our Gold Award Girl Scouts. Iam honored to lead Citrus Council and our amazing,patient, and passionate volunteers who deliver GirlScout programming and bring our mission to lifeevery day. Without our volunteers and communitypartners, Citrus Council would simply not be thepowerful force for girls that we are. I have said it inthe past, and it merits saying again, especially duringchallenging times: Our girls inspire us to bond together,amplifying our commitment and creating the uniqueand purposeful relationship we share. The girls drawus together as a family, and our caring volunteers feedand nurture that family, lifting us all up.
