Welcome from our Chair -
Jon Ward
Welcome to our Club.
This handbook is designed to give you an
insight into our Club and our sport and start
you and your swimmer(s) off on your
swimming journey.
Swimming is a great way of keeping fit and
often becomes more than a sport to many of
those who participate, engaging them in
fitness for life. But most of all swimming is
by far one of the most fun and enjoyable
participative fitness activities.
Participants in our Club are taught the
fundamentals of competitive swimming
including the further development and
perfection of stroke skills as well as
sportsmanship and teamwork in our
inclusive environment. In addition,
swimmers get to meet and interact with
athletes from different clubs whilst enjoying
the health benefits of regular physical
activity.
Not everyone will perform to the same level,
but the benefits that competition brings:
self-discipline; goal setting; self-motivation;
honesty; self-confidence; team camaraderie;
experience of success and how to deal with
defeat; academic structure and strength;
physical fitness and development, and
friends, can all be viewed as valuable life
skills. Ultimately though, competitive
swimming is a fun team sport where
everyone participates & everyone wins
through individual & team accomplishments.
We hope you enjoy your journey.

A Team above
all, but above all
a Team.
Our Vision ......
As a club we aim to provide
an environment and
programme where
swimmers can develop their
potential and achieve at the
level that they wish to:
whether this be working
towards national and
international competition or
simply enjoying competing
within the club. We want to
be a club where there is the
opportunity for a lifetime of
competitive swimming and
where all levels of
competitive swimmer are
welcomed and valued.
Our key objectives as contained in our
SwimMark Development Plan can be found
here.
Our Club
Our Status: Established in
1974 we are now a
registered SwimMark Club.
Formerly called swim21,
SwimMark accreditation is
Swim England’s quality
standard for clubs. It
recognises high standards
of governance,
sustainability and
effectiveness.
Our Executive
Committee: The Club is
run on a day-to- day basis
by a voluntary executive
committee. The committee
is elected each December
at the Club’s annual
general meeting. Details of
the posts and members
holding them can be found
on the Club website under
Governance.
The Constitution: The
club has a constitution that
is approved by
SwimEngland and
describes the legal
standing of the club and
how it should operate. The
constitution is updated
every four years and has to
be approved by the
membership at an Annual
General Meeting. The
current constitution was
last revised in 2019. Full
details can be found on the
Club website in the
Governance section.
Code of Conduct &
Discipline: All members of
the club, including parents of
young members who may not
themselves be a member, are
expected to behave in a
Page 3
www.lbasc.org.uk
manner that allows the club to
run harmoniously. There are a
number of codes of conduct that
apply to different aspects of an
individual's involvement with the
club and more than one code
may apply to an individual. Our
codes of conduct are straight
adoptions of those that can be
found in the Wave Power
documentation produced by the
governing body.
All individuals, who have an
involvement with the club, are
asked to sign-up to the codes in
SwimManager and are deemed
to have read and agreed to the
relevant codes - indeed this is a
condition of membership.
Breaches of the codes of conduct
may lead to disciplinary action
within the club's disciplinary
procedure. There are codes for:
- Children
- Members, Officials & Volunteers
- Committee Members
- Coaches & Teachers
- Parents/Guardians
all of which can be downloaded
from the Club website. If you
have difficulty accessing any of
these documents hard copies can
be made available to you - just
contact any member of the
Executive Committee.

Swim Parents
Welcome and congratulations to you/your
child for securing a place at Leyland
Barracudas Swimming Club. Welcome also to
you as a parent of a swim club member, or
you as a Masters' swimmer (who knows you
may be both!).
Our Thanks: We appreciate everything our
parents do - the early mornings, late evenings,
the rush to get dinner ready and juggle other
family and work commitments, the long
weekends at swim meets either helping
officiate or as a team supporter. So however
much you as a parent choose to get involved -
thank you.
Being a Swim Parent: Hopefully the contents
of this pack will give you some ideas and
helpful advice to enable you to be the best
swim parent you can be and to help you help
your child enjoy their swimming journey to the
extent of their talent and to the limit of their
dreams.
Your swimmer(s): We all need to remember
that they are a person that swims, not just a
swimmer. As a person, who they are impacts
on every aspect of their swimming. Real
progress in swimming comes not from
physical stature or technical ability - it comes
from the development of the whole person;
their character, their values, their personality
and, of course, their athletic ability. Training
alone isn't enough - the development of the
person is far more important and far more
enduring.
Speed, strength, endurance, power, flexibility
and technique are all important to their efforts
in the water but not the only thing we hope our
swimmers develop as they engage in training
and competition. We hope they will learn
integrity; honesty; sincerity; humility; courage;
a strong work ethic; the ability to accept
responsibility for their own actions; the ability
to work cohesively with others to achieve a
common goal; self discipline; and the ability to
maintain a sense of humour under pressure.
Commitment to the team in a sport that also
focusses on individual performance is
important and as a team parent you are key in
helping to develop this attribute within your
child.
Supporting our young athletes through all of
this development can be challenging at times.
If you have concerns about your swimmer's
mental or physical wellbeing you can find
helpful information in the Welfare section of
Page 5
www.lbasc.org.uk
our website together with links to other
agencies who offer support.
If you're new to swimming and supporting your
athlete we also have some useful nutrition tips
on our website. together with some insightful
responses to common parental questions by
coaching professional Wayne Goldsmith.
Should you wish to make a complaint at any
point you should do so in writing to the
Honorary Secretary and the Club will deal with
it as outlined in the Club Constitution.
Got a question?
For general queries you can email us at
ask@lbasc.org.uk and one of our Officers will respond as
soon as possible, OR if you have a team/group query
please contact one of our Parent Liaison Officers

About our Sport
Child Protection & Bullying: As a
SwimMark Club we adopt the
SwimEngland’s Wave Power Policy in order
to ensure the welfare of our members. Full
details can be found via the link below.
Wavepower - Safeguarding: Wavepower is
Swim England’s policy and procedures
relating to child safeguarding and has to be
adopted by all affiliated clubs. You can find
details on our Club website but also by
following this link to SwimEngland's site.
SwimEngland registration - which
category is right for you?:
It is a requirement of SwimEngland that
every member whether Full, or Associate, be
a registered member of the governing body.
There are three different categories - Cat 1
is for all club members from those learning
to swim or swimming internal galas. Cat 2 is
for swimmers who want to compete in
external events. Cat 3 is for anyone involved
as a volunteer, coach or teacher.
Our Registrations Officer will sort your
registration out for you as part of the Club
membership process, so there's nothing
for you to do.
If your swimmer takes any prescribed
medication for hay fever or asthma etc this
could affect drug testing results which is one
of the reasons we ask you to provide us with
the medical information. It is important that
you keep this information up-to-date
because our Team Managers, Marshalls
may need to be involved in keeping our
swimmer safe.
Policies on Doping in Sport: Whether by
accident or on purpose, doping is against the
rules of the sport. For guidance and more
details please follow this link.
Code of Ethics: As a SwimMark club all our
members are required to abide by our governing
body's Code of Ethics.
Inclusion Policy: Our Inclusion Policy applies
to all members of the Club and is part of our
Equality Framework.
Privacy Policy: This policy sets out how we
use and protect any information you give us.

Training equipment
All the equipment that swimmers need for training
can be purchased from our club shop. The
equipment required varies depending on what
group your swimmer trains in but Sara Porter will
be able to advise. You can contact Sara via this
email link. Ordering of training equipment is
currently direct with Sara but we are working on
an online ordering system via the website which
we hope to launch with members in the near
future.
Any profits made from sales come back into
the Club to support other activities.
Club Kit
We have recently launched a new
range of club kit clothing items. There
is no requirement for any member to
buy items but they are available for
those who wish to have them.
They are available via an online link
directly with our supplier. The online
shop is not available all the time.
though. Look out for open dates/times.
We have specific openings throughout the season. Our planned dates are likely to be
February; June; October. Each opening is for a period of 2 weeks and members purchase
their items direct with the supplier. Goods are then delivered 6-7 weeks after the window
closes. Items are priced by the supplier who in return provides the club with a small
percentage on each purchase to use as future credit. We use this credit to part-fund
coaches and officials shirts. We will publish opening dates in advance.
For competitive prices on all types of swimming equipment you can also follow the link on our
Club website to ProSwimwear. Every time you spend, a small percentage comes back to
the club which we then use to support a variety of activites within the Club.

Our Coaching Team & Volunteers
SwimEngland Registrations Officer: who
makes sure that every single member of the club is
registered with the governing body to either swim,
officiate, coach or volunteer. No registration = no
participation.
Chief Coach: The Chief Coach is appointed by
the Executive Committee on a twelve month
paid contract and is responsible for developing
and running the training programme. Our Chief
Coach, Gillian Rankin, is a Level 3 qualified
coach and has been part of Leyland Barracudas
for many years.
Volunteers: Our lifeblood. Operating for 40+
hours each week across four local pools it takes
over 100 staff hours each week from 40
voluntary poolside coaches and helpers to keep
the club running.
In addition to these 40 regular poolside
volunteers there are approximately 20 other
volunteers who undertake support roles away
from the poolside which are equally essential to
the club. Apart from the more obvious roles of
Chair, Treasurer, Secretary we also need:
Booking Officer: Who makes sure all facilities
are booked so we can just turn up and swim. This
volunteer will also make sure that transport is
arranged for all relevant team events.
Internal Competition Secretary: Who
manages all our internal events. Dealing with
registrations, pool bookings, deployment of officials
and marshalls, and management of results.
This isn't an exhaustive list but just gives you a
flavour of the types of things that are going on
behind the scenes to keep our club running.
Without this number of willing volunteers our
club would not be able to sustain the size of
coaching and competitive programme that it
offers.
If volunteering is something you might be
interested in please let us know. Or maybe you
don't have the time to commit to regular
volunteering but have a skill or expertise that
might be useful as a one-off. Again just let us
know.
Page 9
www.lbasc.org.uk
Last year our
volunteers committed
in excess of 6000
contact hours for
our Club.
Our goal is not simply to win, but
to pursue victory with honour and
this requires four key virtues,
fairness, integrity,
responsibility and respect.

Our Training Pathways
Our pathways are designed to take your
swimmer on a developmental journey.
Pre-Competition: Pre-competition training
covers swimmers aged between 5 and 8. Most
of the training for these swimmers takes place
in the small pool at Leyland Leisure Centre but
the older swimmers may also train at Tarleton
Academy. During this phase the emphasis is
very much on teaching and improving the
technical ability of the young swimmers across
all four strokes (Frontcrawl, Backstroke,
Breaststroke and Butterfly) as well as
developing their starts, turns and underwater
work (all vital elements of competitive
swimming).
Swimmers in this phase are assessed against
the SwimEngland criteria and are able to
achieve their level badges - see overleaf for
more information.
Age Group: Age Group competitive swimming
covers swimmers from the age of 9 to
approximately 18. By this stage the swimmers
are technically competent and the emphasis
switches from learning the strokes to learning
how to compete as well as building the fitness
required for competitive swimming. The
swimmer's technique will still be worked on and
corrected but the number of meters swum
during training will be increasing as will the
pace.
The Age Group section of the club is split into 3
pathways Blue, White and Green. The
pathways provide swimmers with the
opportunity to train at a level which suits their
ability, their performance, their ambition and
their commitment. Swimmers are able to move
vertically up the pathways as well as
horizontally across them.
Emergency procedures during sessions
Swimmer safety is essential so all sessions will operate the following procedure -
ONE WHISTLE BLAST: STOP-LOOK-LISTEN
TWO WHISTLE BLASTS: STOP-LOOK-LISTEN AND THEN GET OUT OF
THE POOL AT THE NEAREST POINT, STAND BY THE WALL AND WAIT FOR
YOUR COACH TO GIVE INSTRUCTIONS.
Page 11
www.lbasc.org.uk
Masters: Masters swimmers can be any
swimmer over the age of 20 and are usually
swimmers who have been with the club for
many years. However, we also welcome new
masters swimmers who have never been
Barracudas. Our masters programme has
undergone significant development over the
last 3 years and is a thriving part of the club.
Some train to keep fit, others to improve their
swiming as triathletes and the majority so they
can compete at Masters competitions.
www.lbasc.org.uk Page 12
More about our Pathways
What determines path membership?
This is basically a combination of ambition,
commitment and performance -
• Ambition: what the swimmer
wants to get out of competitive swimming
• Commitment: attendance and
amount of work put into training and
competitions
• Performance: this is both
absolute performance (Personal Best
times [PBs], time trials, test sets, making
training times and relative to peers - this is
the reality of limited pool space.
The level within the path will be partly based
on age as shown in the table across. But
you should note, that the age bands are
indicators and not absolutes, so there will be
some overlaps.
Within each of the pathways there is a level
of competition that swimmers will be
expected to enter. This, again, is not fixed
but is an indication of the level of
commitment that is expected when on a
given pathway and it shows the highest level
of competition that will be expected at each
level. Any swimmer who has a qualifying
time for a competition will still be encouraged
to enter regardless of the training group that
they are in.
Training hours increase from blue to green
and from level 1 upwards. So Green Level 7
will be the group with the highest number of
training hours.
What determines when my child moves
up?
Movement into other pathways or groups is
dependent upon performance, commitment and
space within groups. The criteria for movement
is based on age, time trial attendance and
performance, attendance at, and commitment
to, team events and attendance and
performance in sessions.
What if I have a query about my
swimmer's group?
You can raise this with one of our Parent Liaison
Officers who will provide you with a response
and where relevant liaise with the Chief Coach
on your behalf.

Competitive Opportunities for individuals
Our season begins in September each year
and we have a competition programme that
runs throughout. There are a wealth of
opportunities for swimmers to compete
either in internal club galas or at external
team and/or individual age group events.
Internal events:
We start the season with our Annual House
Gala. All members are allocated a house on
entry to the Club. The houses are named
after four of our founder members - Forrest;
Hunter; Mills; and Fitchie. This is a fun event
for everyone to share.
In November each year we have the Annual
Club Championships. This is our biggest
internal event of the year with 300 trophies up
for grabs and is open to swimmers aged 7 and
over (age is as at 31st December in the year of
competition). With A and B finals across a
number of age groups there are lots of
opportunities for swimmers to get medals or
even become a Club champion.
Annual Sprint and Distance Galas are also
arranged throughout the year so swimmers
can achieve times that will either see them
move up a group or qualify for an external
event. These dates are published on the Club
calendar on the website.
External events:
The Club 'support' a number of local and
regional age group events. What this means is
that we enter these events as a Club and
provide coaching/chaperone staff at the event.
We carefully plan the entire competitive
calendar and try to manage swimmer
programmes so that they don't over swim
themselves. The events that the Club support
are shown overleaf.
Masters Competition
For those Masters swimmers who wish to compete there are opportunities to take
part in internal events or for some, to represent our senior teams in league
competitions. For those who wish to stick to dedicated masters events there are
opportunities across the North West and in national championships. In recent
years they have also travelled as a team to compete in an international masters
event in Germany. We have members who have qualified for European events,
those who do open water and others representing GB at World Transplant events.
Basically there is something for all.

North Lancashire Level 2: This is a
Championship and Age Group event licensed
at Level 2 and organised by the North
Lancashire Swimming & Water Polo
Association (NLSWPA). It is normally held
over two weekends in September and
October. Qualifying times required. More
details available here.
Lancashire County Championships:
run each year over two or three week-ends in
January/February. They are organised by the
Lancashire Swimming & Water Polo
Association (LSWPA) and are open to all
members of clubs that are affiliated to the
Association. It is a long course (50m pool)
Level 1 event and as such qualifying times
must be achieved at licensed meets that are
Level 4 or above.
North West Regionals: This is a
SwimEngland age group event held across
three weekends in April/May each year. Full
details about entry can be found here.
North Lancashire Level 3: This is open
to members of all clubs affiliated to NLSWPA
and is aimed at swimmers aged 9 and over
(age on date of competition). It takes place in
July and qualifying times are required.
New to the Sport? Here is some gala results terminology that will be useful to
understand.
DNC: Did not compete
DQ SA: Disqualification due to arm movement not in accordance with the rules (stroke/
arms). For example, using freestyle stroke during breaststroke event.
DQ SL: Disqualification due to leg movement not in accordance with rules (stroke/legs).
For example, using freestyle kick during butterfly event.
DQ ST: Disqualification due to a false start (usually due to movement before the starting
signal).
DQ T: Disqualification due to a turn not in accordance with the rules (e.g. turning onto front
too early in a backstroke events, or pushing off from bottom of pool after turn).
DQ FI: Disqualificaation due to a finish not in accordance with the rules (e.g. one-handed
touch on breaststroke or butterfly).
Page 15

Competitive Opportunities for teams
We are very proud of the fact that yearon-year
we are able to enter two teams in
league competitions. It is something we
have been committeed to for many years
and whilst it takes a lot of organising and
volunteer support it does provide
valuable team competition exerience for
more swimmers.
This is likely to be one of your swimmer's
first competitive opportunitties for the club. It
is for swimmers aged between 9-12 years
and is designed to encourage their
progression in the sport. Full details are
available via this link.
Entry Qualifications for Galas
Our club competes in the North West Region
of this league. The region is split into four
divisions: Premier; One; Two and Minor.
Our ‘A’ team is currently in the Premier
Division and our ‘B’ team is in Division Two.
The regional level of the competition takes
place on the second Saturday in each
October, November and December with the
third round acting as a final to determine
who represents the region in the National
finals. The finals also determine promotion
and relegation within the region. More
details can be found on the Club website.
North Lancashire Swim League -
This is for clubs affiliated to the North
Lancashire Swimming & Water Polo
Association. Our A Team compete in
Division 1 and our B Team is in Division 2.
The league runs from January to July with
three matches for each team. Age groups
are 12 and under; 13/14 years and Open
Ladies/Gents. Age is as at 30 June in the
year of competition. All events are 50m
including the relays of which there are two -
cannon relay 4 x 50m mixed medley and a
mixed 6 x 50m Freestye relay.
Duel in the Pool - This is a friendly event
we run annually against our neigbouring club
Chorley Marlins. It is a fun event and often
an opportunity for those swimmers who don't
regularly get the competitive opportunities to
take part with their team mates. More
details available via this link.
www.lbasc.org.uk Page 16
What are licensed meets?
The English competitive calendar contains
a range of 'open' meets which include ones
you will hear referred to as "licensed".
These are events licensed by Swim
England and means they have to meet
certain standards of organisation to
ensure fair competition. There are four
levels of licensed meet, they are:
1. Level 1 - are long course (50m) only and
cover National, Regional and County
Championships. Their purpose is to enable
athletes to achieve qualifying times for entry
into National, Regional and County
Championships.
2. Level 2 - are short course (25m) only and
cover National, Regional and County
Championships. Their purpose is to enable
athletes to achieve qualifying times for entry
into National, Regional and County short
course championships.
outside their club environment. If their times
are good, athletes progress to Level 3 meets.
Barracuda Licensed Meets
One of the criteria for holding a licensed meet
is that all poolside officials must hold the
relevant SwimEngland officiating
qualifications. This in turn means that to
include 'licensed' meets in our internal Club
programme we have to ensure we maintain
the right number and level of qualified officials.
This is a minimum of 15 qualified poolside
officials for each event. Whilst it takes the
Club time and money to maintain a sufficiently
qualified bank of officials we believe it is time
and money well spent when it means that our
swimmers are given the opportunity to gain
official qualifying times at our own events.
3. Level 3 - are long and short course
events. Their purpose is to enable athletes to
achieve times for entry into Regional and
County Championships and other meets at
Levels 1 or 2.
4. Level 4 - are entry level events in pools
25m or greater. Borough Championships are
an example. They are for inexperienced
athletes and swimmers seeking to compete
Page 17

Swim meet - Do's & Don'ts
What to wear
Club costumes and jammers and team hats
MUST be worn for all team events.
Costumes/jammers and hats can be
obtained through the Club Swim Shop.
For individual/open events swimmers can
wear their preferred costumes/jammers but
MUST wear a team hat.
What I need to know poolside
Swimmers should have a small waterproof
sports bag for the poolside - their main swim
bag should be left with their parent/guardian
and not taken onto the poolside. It is
important that they have all their equipment
to hand as coaches won't be able to find
parents at busy events. They will need:
- Goggles - including a spare pair!
- t shirt for in between races
- 2 x towels - one for sitting in and one for
drying themselves
- spare costume/jammers
- drink bottle (no fizzy pop or energy drinks
please)
- light healthy snack (no sweets or chocolate
are allowed poolside)
Swim meets take a long time so some
swimmers bring something to keep them
occupied but please avoid expensive
electronic gadgets. Coaches cannot be
responsible for their safety,
Once on the poolside swimmers MUST NOT
leave the deck until given permission to do
so. This includes toilet breaks - you must
always get your team marshall's permission
to leave poolside.
- Club swim hat
Follow this link to find out about
The importance of hydration in swimming
TOP TIP: If you're not sure about sizes of costumes and jammers across the various makes our
Shop Manager has a great deal of experience and can provide you with good advice and sometimes
there is the option to 'Try before you buy'.
www.lbasc.org.uk Page 18
Team Selection - What it means
So we can provide as many competitive
opportunities as possible the Club always
enters two teams in each competition ('A;
Team and 'B' Team). Swimmers who are
selected for team events will need to accept
the invitation on SwimManager. If you agree
to take up a position in a team we need
you to make every effort to maintain
commitment to ALL the dates. Every
swimmer is equally important to the team.
Non-availability can have a serious knock-on
impact for the rest of the team and the Club's
results.
Team Travel
For team events the club general provides a
coach. The cost of each swimmer is £4
payable upon boarding. Parents travelling on
the team busy pay £2. Parents of younger
swimmers will be given priority. Swimmers
are expected to observe the Club's code of
conduct at all times and this includes during
coach travel. Poor behaviour may result in
exclusion from team transport for future
matches. Transport for open events is not
usually provided.
Team Kit
All team swimmers are given their first 'Team'
cap free - but keep it safe because if you lose
it you will have to buy the next one! Team
swimmers are also required to wear team
jammers & costumes which can be bought
through the club shop via Sara Porter.
Team Managers
Managing teams is a tough business - early
mornings, long weekends, late evenings going
through the selection process based on
swimmer's times and current levels of fitness.
But also applying your knowledge of the
opposition and where our team are likely to
get the best points. Sometimes having to
make difficult decisions that you know may not
be universally popular, but with the bigger
picture in mind, you have to have the courage
to see it through.
Team Managers are often passionate souls,
who in the majority of cases, are or have been
parents like yourselves, supporting their child
in sport. They are usually giving up their own
family time to provide your child with an
opportunity so they really feel the
disappointment for the team if your child
doesn't turn up. Non-attendance of one
swimmer impacts on the performance of the
whole team - particularly if the non-attendance
is last minute.
Swimmers, coaches and Team Managers are
necessary but by no means sufficient
ingredients for the smooth operation of a swim
team. You, as parents, are vital and without
your support even the best conceived team is
doomed to failure. If all of us do our part, we
will be successful, it will be fun and your child
will be the beneficiary.
Page 19
www.lbasc.org.uk
The unexpected
We know that sometimes illness can get in the way and swimmers need to pull out of events. When
this does happen we know the temptation is to wait until the last possible moment so as to give your
swimmer the opportunity to rally round. But this isn't always helpful.
Team Managers need time to find a replacement and that replacement needs time to organise
themselves to get there. Getting notice of non-attendance at the last minute on the day of the event
doesn't always allow this to happen and we either go to a meet without a full team or other swimmers
have to pick up extra races. Please help us in these situations and give your team manager
sufficient notice so they can have the opportunity to field a full team.
Swim Awards
We offer a range of Swim England awards
which are available to all members regardless
of age. These awards provide a great
incentive to swimmers to personally challenge

Kick start
As we said earlier in this handbook SwimManager is our Club management information system.
To help you get started with the system here is a quick guide to a couple things. But once you
are logged in to the system be sure to check out the Parents Guide located on the bottom of the
left-hand toolbar in SwimManager.
Logging in for the first time
Paying an invoice by bank transfer
One of the other regular transactions is to make a payment. SwimManager creates invoices for
membership, meet entries, Club kit and other ad-hoc items. To view the list of invoices against
your account click the Invoices link on the left-hand toolbar. We are currently only set up for the
Bank Transfer method so here's how you do it - [Remember: you are not actually making the payment in
SwimManager you are just confirming that you have made the transaction via your normal banking app.]
1. - Select the Bank Transfer option
2. Enter the date on which you made the transfer
3. Enter the reference used for the transfer. We recommend that you use the Invoice Number
which will be pre-populated for you. This helps us reconcile your payment.
4. Click Record Payment Details. The payment will be entered into the system and matched to
the invoice you are paying. [Note: Until the Club have reconciled their bank statements the payment will be
marked as 'Unconfirmed'.]
Making a recurring payment
You can also set SwimManager up to accept regular payments (e.g. training fees) by standing
order or monthly bank transfer so you don't need to manually enter payment each month.
Instructions for this are on Page 22 of the Guide.

What do fees & fundraising provide
Each year we work to keep our fees to a
minimum. Our membership and training
fees cover the essentials such as pool hire,
affiliation & insurance costs and
professional coaching fees. Pool hire alone
amounts to over £80k a year.
Our commitment to running two teams in
each league we compete in brings with it
additional cost for affiliation and transport
but we think the benefits outweigh the cost.
We supplement funds by generating income
through a range of activities. For example,
balances generated after expenditure from
internal competition fees, shop sales and
other fundraising activities throughout the
year, help support the purchase of trophies,
and pay the balance of transport costs.
We also draw down match funding from our
affiliated bodies to support things like
workforce training and development. We
are lucky to have a volunteer workforce who
are keen to upskill. Maintaining an
enthusiastic and well trained workforce is an
essential ingredient to success. Having
sufficient qualified officials also gives us the
capacity to run our own licensed events,
providing our members with opportunities on
their doorstep.
In recent years we have also been quite
successful in securing additional funds from
a range of external organisations. As well
as supporting our Young Aquatic Volunteer
programme this has enabled us to improve
our competitive environment by purchasing
items of equipment such as a new gala PA
sound system; acoustic starting system; and
new starting blocks.
Photography
Our sports governing body is very strict about the appropriateness of
taking photographic images of children or anyone under the age of 18
as part of their overall safeguarding. Therefore photography at
training sessions and events is only permitted if the person taking the
images follows the guidance provided in the link below AND has
signed the Club's Photography Register. This MUST be done before
photographs can be taken AND on each occasion that the person
wishes to take photographs. As an affiliated club we have to abide
closely with this guidance. The Club can only use photographs of
swimmers by obtaining parental consent.
