Dear artists and art lovers! And to all of you who find in this new edition of The First Berliner
Art Book 2020 a unique opportunity and an inspiration, may you, in turn, inspire others with
the power of creativity, in order to enrich our Contemporary Art scene.
In this jubilee edition we wish to present a selection of the most meritorious Contemporary
artists from around the world, using a wide variety of mediums. They contribute magnificently
to the vibrant art scene of Berlin, which showcases the most striking and innovative tendencies
of our times. We are particularly proud to offer galleries, collectors and art lovers, living in all
the 6 continents, the crème-de-la-crème of this second decade of our millenium. They will be
able to follow the artists who graced our previous editions and by the same token appreciate
the manner in which they have evolved, for real Art is in a constant flux. These creators show
the way to the upcoming generations of artists, filling in, so to speak, the great puzzle-inprogress
of Art History.
So, dear readers, may these works of art, contained between the covers of The First Berliner
Art Book 2020, embellish your life with beauty, spirituality and much joy.
Sincerely yours, Gabriela Caranfil, curator AMB

for granted, and can’t find the treasure around us. Slow down and the perspectives will be
changed, then we can find the beauty and fun around us”.
He takes recording the beauty and change of the city as his mission. He was awarded the
17th Golden Arts Award at the Taiwan World Watercolor Competition and the competition

Henrik Brøndsted
Henrik Brøndsted is a visual poet. Combining different pictures and
adding colour to black and white photos, he creates visual stories.
Photography is by nature realistic but Henrik transforms the reality
into something more ephemeral. «The Bird and the Girl» is part of a
series about nature and woman.
For about a year Henrik has worked on another project, making
portraits of old people in a French village. He shows faces, strong
faces, marked by hard labour. Faces you can read as you read a
landscape.

Hsiao-Ying Wu
Born in 1987, she lives and works in Chiayi, Taiwan. Her works include
paintings, drawings, handmade objects, ceramics, and installations.
Education: 2006-2009 BA Painting, Camberwell College of Arts, U.K.
She has been working on a few projects during these years: ‘The
Abstract Landscape of the Heart’ focuses on people’s inner spiritual
scenery via abstract paintings; ‘Deformation’ expresses observations
of feelings and emotions through abnormal, figurative, and beast-like
drawings;’ Rhythms of life’ is the combination of mixed media, made
or collected by her, praising the beautiful, weird, and wild parts of
the world, also inspired by tribal and outsider art. The Art Installation ‘Let’s Think About
Something Together, or Let’s Just Veg Out Together’ is part of the project ‘Rhythms of
life’, displaying natural collections, paintings, small handmade objects that all tell different
stories about her observation of people, unrestrained imagination, and ambiguous dreams.

Judit Kiss
Judit has born in 1964 in Budapest and still calls it home. She has a
creative personality, which gives her immense joy. She is in harmony
with our times, and one of the purposes of her art is to attract the
viewer’s attention, so that he/she takes the time to contemplate
the spiritual dimensions of her drawings. The important thing is to
focus on what you love most and to look at life’s positive side, then
you can discover the beauty of it and what is good in humanity.

Margaretha
Gubernale
The pictures by Margaretha Gubernale are a tightrope walk. On the
one hand, she paints abstract thoughts and on the other hand, she
rather adheres to the forms of nature and prefers plasticity order to
focus the symbolic parable as clearly as possible and to carry it to
the viewer of her pictures. Their sources of inspiration are nature and
anthroposophical and philosophical ideas. It seeks to create a magical harmony between
two apparently gaping sides, the spiritual and the material, in alignment with the actual
in a chromatic manner, so that in the end a global, philanthropic, cosmopolitan attitude
shines through and the image becomes an aesthetic, positive one with a result of Unity,
which portrays our contemporary era, and quietly narrates comforting and above all
comprehensible sentiments. She wants to honor her patron and address her in a spiritual,
emotional and technical manner.

Mira learned to paint for six years as she studied
in two different high schools for about four years, and two more years
with a private teacher.
Her art presents the vitality and beauty of the nature she loves so
much and her universal love for people, no matter what their religion,
race or gender, is another source of inspiration. This is an essential
component of her paintings.
She paints uniquely from the depths of her soul.
Some of her paintings take their source in her visions, her dreams and
her intuitions.
Her works are created spontaneously in «a-la-prima» fashion, with impressionistic notes, as
well as in a New Age Art style. All of her paintings are original oil artworks.
She has exhibited in Israel in many famous Galleries and her art is very popular.
She also had shows in Vienna, New York, and in 2018 she participated repeatedly in the Art
Box Gallery in Zürich, Switzerland. In October 2019 she exhibited at the Florence Biennale, and
during that same year she had an important retrospective of her artworks in the Seychelles
and in New Zeland. Lately she has held her solo exhibition in Israeli Opera.

Tadeusz
Baranowski
Tadeusz Baranowski a graduate of the Faculty of Graphics and
Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Participated
in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad.
Apart from painting, he also worked with applied graphics (especially by creating numerous
original press layouts), and creativity workshops for children.
He invented his very own painting technique that uses a variety of materials (wood, fabric,
polystyrene, acrylics, oils, etc.). It allows for the construction of works resembling reliefs – by
composing layers built from various materials. In this abstract reality we find landscapes,
still lifes and spectacular images that fill his rich imagination.
