could improvise to be a
designer; it was much
more straightforward;
you just needed
Photoshop basics, know
the build of the platform,
and a bit of imagination.
You could create clothes,
often a bit arranged,
and I dare say almost
simulated. With the
advent of mesh, the
approach to realizing
the clothes and their
rendering has changed.
Now it is much more
creative and stimulating
because the clothes are
very realistic. Indeed,
it is no longer possible
to improvise because
you need confident
professionalism and
excellent knowledge of
various 3D software in
making them.
Miso: How do you think
SL has changed from a
human perspective in all
these years?
Elisea: Because of my
work, I have always lived
very little Second Life.
But as far as I could and
can see, I think nothing
has changed, humanly
speaking. As in reality, or
maybe more than reality,
life here takes very
much emotionally. Often
you are without masks;
it seems a paradox,
considering that there is
no visual approach, and
everyone can be what
they want, but that is
precisely why you are
what you are.
It comes out the most
intrinsic door that is
inside us. And this can
be damn fascinating
and, at the same time,
destructive. I have
witnessed great loves,
beautiful friendships,
but also intense
disappointments, breaks,
and inconsolable tears.
Perhaps here, the soul is
touched.
And that’s why living
on Second Life changes
our lives, swallows our
existence. It’s like living
in a fairy world where
everything becomes
possible, where dreams
and fantasies can come
true, but on the other
hand, it can be harmful
because, at the same
time, it takes us away
from reality.
Miso: Your look is that of
the designer who creates:
do you think that the
models who now show
your new clothes can
convey what you want to
say with your creation?
(I ask you this because,
in my opinion, the model
must represent who has
created leaving aside
the beauty of the avatar
(necessary), but that must
not excel. It is a question
that does not ask for
names, but a general
opinion.
Elisea: Often not; they
can’t convey what that
particular garment
means to me. The outfit
is fundamental, as
well as the poses and
movements, and it is not
enough to be good at
editing accessories or
using poses. Many people
lack imagination and
good taste. It is very well
perceived that they often
have the basis for the
“history of the costume”
and, therefore, the
various periods classified
a particular “style.”
Miso: What do you
suggest to those who are
thinking of becoming a
stylist in SL?
Elisea: Even if we are
not in reality, you should
always be updated on the
fashion of real designers,
always look not only at
their creations but all the
outfit that composes and
gives style to the dress.
We are history, and only
knowing the past can we
think of a future.
Miso: Think about the
models when they show
