Another update for 2020 is topspec
Brembo Stylema calipers
which have massive amounts
of stopping power., almost too
much for the dirt, rather stay in
Off-Road mode, where ABS still
stays on the front wheel.
Handling
So whats it like to ride on the
roa, well it’s only 5kgs lighter on
the spec sheets but once riding
the geometry upgrades makes
it flick a lot easier, I rode the
old model just to make sure my
feeling was correct. And for sure I
digress now, but I much more like
the new grunty character of the
engine.
Comfort
Before this bike, I’d be convinced
that on a long ride I’d need the
1200, but now I’m not that sure.
You see, all of a sudden you have
all of this off road prowess but
you still have the comfort, it’s
closed the gap to the 1200 a lot
on this side of the scale.

Conclusion
So this is the most closely contested
segment on the planet,
the fact that Triumph has placed
two varying products into it shows
that it is split enough to justify
two approaches. As I’m more off
road focused for me it has to be
the Rally Pro but it would seem,
even without a group test, that
this bike is good enough to be a
title contender, it’s that good.
