“But there is no Fort James,” Alex surprised
them by saying. “I mean there was, but now all
we’ve found is some of the outline of the footprint of
the fort.”
“What else do you know about the fort?”
asked Christina.
“Well, it was triangular in shape…it was a
wooden palisade. You know,” Alex said, when the
others looked puzzled, “the walls were small trees
cut to a point on top and all butted together. Inside
there were buildings made of wattle-and-daub with
thatched roofs.”
“What’s…what’s that stuff you just said?”
asked Grant.
“Wattle-and-daub,” said Courtney. “It’s a
mixture of mud and straw they made house walls from.”
“So if we can’t see the fort, how can we go to
the fort?” asked Christina in frustration.
Suddenly, Alex snapped his fingers. “We
need to go back to the Archaearium! There are
some special effects there that show where the fort
was and what it looked like.”
“So we can use high tech to see the past?”
asked Christina.
“You bet,” said Alex.
