Alex reached it first. “Beat you, Clue,” he said<br />
to the puppy, which nipped at his heels in chase.<br />
“Another clue?” groaned Christina. “I thought<br />
for sure we’d find something besides another clue. I<br />
feel like we’re just going around in circles.”<br />
“Well, let’s at least see what it says,” Courtney<br />
suggested.<br />
Alex unfolded the paper and the children read:<br />
“SO YOU THINK A DUMB DOG CAN HELP YOU?<br />
DID YOU FORGET JAMES FORT?<br />
WHAT KIND OF MYSTERY-SOLVERS ARE YOU?”<br />
“Hmm,” said Courtney, looking all around<br />
behind them. “I feel like someone is watching us<br />
closely.”<br />
“But are they really trying to help us solve<br />
the mystery…or leading us on a wild goose chase?”<br />
added Christina.<br />
“Good question,” said Grant, “but they are<br />
right; we skipped right over the Fort James clue when<br />
we were gone. So maybe it’s not too late to go there.”<br />
