“Besides,” said Grant, trying hard to hold the
active puppy tight on the leash, “he’s just a pup. I think
they have to be trained to sniff things out, you know.”
Just then, Alex dashed up to them. “Hey, you
guys!” he yelled as he approached them.
“Thank goodness!” Courtney said to
Christina. “I haven’t seen Alex much since you guys
left for Williamsburg. I’ve been worried about him.”
“Hey, Alex, what’s up?” asked Grant, as if it
was an ordinary day, instead of a day when a mystery
still needed solving, and fast!
Alex waved a piece of white paper at them.
“Finally, there’s another clue!” he said. “It was tucked
in my backpack when I got ready to leave Dad’s office
this morning. I heard you guys were back, and I saw
Amy, and she said Courtney was at the concession
stand, so I tracked you here.”
Suddenly, Alex got quiet. Then, he roared,
“Speaking of tracking, where’d you get that
bloodhound?!”
“You know this breed?” asked Christina, as
the puppy ran around in circles, tangling them all up
in the leash. As they all laughed, nearby tourists
looked too and laughed at the funny scene.
“We found him,” Christina explained. “And
hope to keep him.”
