“He isn’t wearing a collar,” said Grant. “Any
good dog owner would have a collar and a rabies tag
on their dog to show it’s had its shots.”
“Well, maybe he has a bad owner,” Papa said.
“Then we sure can’t give him back!” said
Christina.
When she saw Mimi and Papa look at one
another, Christina cheered: “Yeah! We can keep him!”
“I did not say that, Christina,” said Mimi.
“We have to try to find its owner,” Papa insisted.
Grant made a big deal out of looking out
of all the windows.
“What in the world are you doing,
Grant?” asked Mimi.
Grant shrugged his little shoulders. “Looking
for the puppy’s owner. But I don’t see them
anywhere. Do you?”
“Ok, ok,” said Papa. “We’ll take this
doggone dog with us as far as Jamestown, so he
won’t get run over.”
“But when we get there, I will put it on the
Internet that we found a lost dog,” Mimi insisted. “And
if someone claims him, we’ll have to give him back.”
Christina and Grant groaned.
Suddenly, Papa started to laugh. The puppy had
climbed up on his neck and was licking him like crazy.
