Nestled amidst Nilgiri hills, Ooty, also known as Udagamandalam, is a hill station in Tamil Nadu
which serves as a top rated tourist destination. Dotted with tea gardens serene waterfalls, winding
country lanes and a charming colonial nature. It is considered a haven for nature lovers from all the
country Ensconced in the lap of nature this town is surrounded on all sides by the towering Nilgiris,
evergreen fir trees and of course, lakes small and large. The local language of Ooty is Tamil, although it
being a popular tourism destination, English and Hindi are also widely spoken. The best time to visit Ooty
is during the summer season, from March to June, when the weather here is pleasant and cool as
compared to the rest of South India as well as most of the country.
2. Mahabalipuram
Famous for its intricately carved temples and rock-cut caves, Mamallapuram or Mahabalipuram as it
is famously known, is a historically important and well-loved tourist location situated on the
Coromandel Coast along the Bay of Bengal, in the state of Tamil Nadu . The serenity, the alluring
atmosphere and the impressive setting with many beautiful white sandy beaches dotted with casuarina
trees are all reasons as to why one would want to visit this wonderful town. Some famous tourist spots
include the UNESCO world heritage site Group of Monuments like the Shore Temple and the Five
Rathas, the Crocodile Bank which is home to some exquisite species of crocodiles and alligators, and
the beach resorts in Kovalam and Sadras.
3. Kanyakumari
