Boosters still making plans

The OHS Booster Club continues

to provide support to our athletic

teams even in these confusing

times.

The Boosters are still putting together

a sports program for this fall

and winter. A parental ad form can

be found at the back of this newsletter.

The group will be holding

checks until they have further information about the

upcoming seasons. Parents also have the option of donating

the money to the Booster Club for future projects

if the sports seasons are cancelled.

The group meets just once a month, at 7 p.m. on the

first Wednesday of the month.

Seniors to take SAT on October 14

Due to the stay-at-home order

last spring, the senior class never received

their opportunity to take the

SAT exam.

That will all be corrected on October

14 as the Class of 2021 will

take the SAT at OHS.

This is the third class that the

state of Illinois has used the SAT as

their state mandated assessment.

Students will be assessed in read-

ing, writing, language, and math.

The test is given at no cost to students

and they will be able to use

their scores for college admission,

The juniors will also be given

Follow us on Twitter at @OakHS76

the opportunity to take the PSAT/

NMSQT on that same day.

This will give the juniors the opportunity

the practice the test format

before the spring test date. Scores

from the test also determine National

Merit Scholars.

Juniors must pay $17 to take the

test. Interested students need to

bring their money to Mrs. Lee by

Fri., Sept. 11.

Project Success

continues its program

Project Success is a before- and after-school

program offered at OHS.

The program offers homework help and tutoring

along with enrichment activities. Program hours

are 7 to 8 a.m. and 1:50 to 3:50 p.m. on Monday,

Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. Students must fill out

an enrollment packet to be in the program.

We will be following the school’s attendance

policy. Students can only come to program the

days they are in-person learning at OHS. They

can receive help virtually on the days they are not

in school. Staff will be available before and after

school to have on-line meetings for those students.

All students who attend in person programming

are required to wear a mask the entire time they

are at program. We will also be following social

distancing guidelines.

Project Success welcomes all students and we

encourage you to join! Packets can be picked up at

the high school in the office or the library.

If you have a student who is doing all remote

learning and would like to be enrolled, please email

ohscoordinator@vcprojectsuccess.org and we will

email you an electronic packet to fill out.
