body. In a separate incident, a Palestinian working as a taxi driver in Al-Za’afaraniyah<br />

was kidnapped by militiamen and later found dead.<br />

• 13 January 2007: The body of a Palestinian man was discovered after he had been<br />

kidnapped from Al-Karrada neighbourhood several days earlier. Also, the body of<br />

another Palestinian man was found in the Baghdad Central Morgue. He had been<br />

missing since 11 July 2006. He had previously fled to Baladiyat after being threatened<br />

by militia in Al-Hurriya neighbourhood.<br />

• 12 January 2007: Two Palestinian men were separately kidnapped from Al-<br />

Za’afaraniyah and Al-Doura neighbourhoods. Their bodies were found two days later.<br />

• 11 January 2007: One Palestinian man was kidnapped from Hay Al-Awal. His<br />

whereabouts remain unknown.<br />

• 8 January 2007: A Palestinian from the UAE was kidnapped while visiting relatives in<br />

Al-Karrada area in Baghdad. He was released on 15 January 2007 after his family paid<br />

US $30,000 in ransom.<br />

• 7 January 2007: A Palestinian man was killed in Baghdad’s Al-Mansour area.<br />

• 1 January 2007: One Palestinian man was reportedly kidnapped by militiamen from Al-<br />

Doura. Even though the family paid US $30,000 ransom, he was later found dead.<br />

• 25 December 2006: The dead body of a Palestinian was found, reportedly bearing<br />

numerous marks of torture, after having been kidnapped on 20 December 2006. In a<br />

separate incident, two Palestinian men from Ghazaliya District in Baghdad were<br />

reportedly kidnapped by Shi’ite militiamen.<br />

• 24 December 2006: A Palestinian man was allegedly detained by the Iraqi 4 th regiment<br />

special forces (Maghawir Allua Arahba) at his home in Baladiyat. There has been no<br />

information about his whereabouts.<br />

• 15 December 2006: A Palestinian man was kidnapped from Al-Doura neihghbourhood<br />

and later found killed, his body bearing signs of torture.<br />

• 13 December 2006: Baladiyat compound was attacked with mortars reportedly killing nine<br />

persons, including children, and injuring 20.<br />

• 12 December 2006: Three persons were reportedly abducted and killed in Al-Doura; the<br />

body of another Palestinian man, previously kidnapped from Al-Mansour, was found<br />

dead in Baladiyat.<br />

• 9 December 2006: A Palestinian shopkeeper and two of his employees were reportedly<br />

kidnapped from a shop in Al-Sana in Baghdad. Witnesses saw militiamen in sports<br />

clothing entering the shop and taking them away. In a separate incident, there was<br />

a confirmed report of an attack on Baladiyat. Three shells landed in the compound,<br />

injuring 10 persons. No fatalities were reported.<br />

• 8 December 2006: The manager of the Haifa Sports Club, a well known community<br />

figure, was reportedly kidnapped from his home, with a ransom demand of US<br />

$100,000. He was later found killed.<br />

• 2 December 2006: Two Palestinian brothers were reportedly kidnapped by militiamen<br />

from their shop in Al-Mashtal, near Baladiyat. Their bodies were found on 7 December<br />

2006.<br />

• 1 December 2006: A Palestinian man was reportedly taken from his shop in Baladiyat<br />

by militiamen and killed in the street when he resisted. In a separate incident, the bodies<br />

of two Palestinians, kidnapped on the same day from Al-Fadl, were found dead.<br />
