• 10 June 2006: Ahmad Abdul Wadir Abdullah, a Sunni Arab professor at the College<br />

of Chemistry in the University of Basrah, was killed. 964<br />

• 23 May 2006: A high school teacher, Nazar Qadir, was killed in a drive-by shooting<br />

on his way to work near Kirkuk city. 965<br />

• 15 May 2006: Four teachers were reportedly killed en route to their school near the<br />

town of Balad Ruz. 966<br />

• 12 May 2006: A Shi’a professor, Widad Al-Shimri, and her seven-year-old daughter<br />

were slain as they drove through Baqouba in the Governorate of Diyala. 967<br />

• 12 May 2006: A professor of Islamic law, Khalaf Al-Jumaili, was shot dead after<br />

assailants stopped his car in Fallujah. 968<br />

• 2 May 2006: Mohammed Abdul-Raheem Al-Ani, a professor at Al-Mustansiriya<br />

University and a doctorate student in the College of Islamic Sciences of Baghdad<br />

University as well as a member of the Muslim Scholars Association, was allegedly<br />

arrested by members of the Ministry of Interior. His body was found in the Forensic<br />

Medicine Morgue in Baghdad. 969<br />
