MRW Issue 1

A few months before the start of the
season we started getting our paperwork
together. It was a very difficult
period because no one could give us
any answers as to whether we would
be allowed to travel. I just kept training
and made sure I was ready; the
rest was out of our control. With some
persistence and loads of paperwork,
we managed to leave SA on the 17th
of July. This was only possible with
the help we received from the following
people and organizations: Motorsport
South Africa: Spark Bright,
Ashwin HARRI, Jacqui Monteiro, Vic
Maharaj South African Minister of
Sport: Honorable Mr. Nathi Mthethwa
RFME and ESBK: the Spanish Motorcycle
Federation Spanish Embassy
in Cape Town: The Spanish Consulate
was very helpful and made sure
we received a visa in record time. My
team Rotek Factory Racing: Mario
Rolandi and Nejrotti Max for getting
all the permissions and documentation.
My parents: for all the sacrifices
and effort.
We finally got to the German
school as we had to fly via Frankfurt
only to be told there was a document
missing from the Spanish embassy
and we can’t leave. That’s me above
sitting next to my bags, devastated.
My dad sends the Spanish Consulate
an email at 17:15 and by some luck, he
replied and attached the document.
What a relief, but a roller coaster of
emotions.
