riders wanting a superbike for
the long open road but for
track riders it’s spot on – very
Marc Marquez attach position.
I’ve never ridden a Marc
Marquez MotoGP Honda, and
probably never will, but if I
could imagine what the bike
feels like I would say the new
Blade is the closest thing.
That poised to go fast riding
position with a front end that
thrives on being pushed to
the limit, I found myself trying
to impersonate the 8-times
world champion out on track
with my elbows out ready to
slide on the tarmac. I soon realized
that I am no Marc and
my elbows were nowhere near
the tar but nevertheless, the
new CBR did its job perfectly
and made me feel like I was
the man himself in full flight.
The handling on the new
RR-R is glorious and on par, if
not better than most of their
competitors at the moment,
and that’s saying something,
considering we as the public
are blessed with the likes of
the new Yamaha R1 and Ducati
Panigale V4R.
Braking is stupendous, styling
is eye-catching and modern,
and it even has wings,
something only a few in today’s
market can say.
Overall, the new Blade will
impress all that are lucky
enough to climb onboard and
lends itself more so now than
ever to the faster track rider
looking to improve their laptimes.
It’s all that was good
from previous models just
amplified, and now has the
power to impress even the
most stubborn critic and, with
the tweaks made by the team
here at Honda SA, has probably
now made the new RR-R
the best production sports
bike on the market today! And
that’s just the base model…
Before, Honda focussed on
making a bike that catered
for riders out on the road
and track, with a strong
focus on comfort and ease
of use. For the new model,
there has definitely been
more of a shift towards the
track side, with hints of road
riding thrown in.
I remember a time when I
used to scrape the standard
foot pegs on previous gen
FireBlades, but that will
never happen in the new
bike. The electronics are
excellent in assisting and
helping you get on with
enjoying what is an awesome
riding experience.
