Annual Report 2010-11 <strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Activities</strong><br />
Conference on engineering sciences was held at <strong>the</strong> institute in which more than 70 participants<br />
presented <strong>the</strong>ir research. Industry and academics highly appreciated this activity.<br />
A Continual Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Development Cell (CPDC) is established at <strong>the</strong> institute level which<br />
provides training and development courses for fresh as well as employed engineers. Recently following<br />
courses were <strong>of</strong>fered at <strong>the</strong> forum <strong>of</strong> CPDC:<br />
� Course on Simulation using CHEMCAD<br />
� Sustainable Environmental Production<br />
� Implementation <strong>of</strong> ISO 9001:2008 in process industries<br />
� Awareness <strong>of</strong> ISO 14000 (Environmental Management System)<br />
� Communication Skills Development<br />
� Foreign <strong>Academic</strong> Linkages<br />
Although a few MOUs have been signed with different universities at university level, however<br />
collaborations with different foreign universities <strong>of</strong> UK and Asian region are under consideration.<br />
� Honors and Awards<br />
o Faculty member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Institute won <strong>the</strong> best presenter Award in 4th Symposium on Engineering<br />
Sciences held in ICET PU Lahore in March 2011.<br />
o Students <strong>of</strong> Institute won first prize in Undergraduate Internship Projects organized at UET<br />
Lahore in 2011.<br />
o Institute actively participates in sports activities and got overall 2nd position in <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>Punjab</strong> Inter Departmental including events <strong>of</strong> Cricket, football, tug <strong>of</strong> war, hockey, badminton,<br />
gymnastic etc.<br />
o Pr<strong>of</strong>. Dr. Syed Zahoor-ul-Hassan Rizvi (Director, Institute <strong>of</strong> Chemical Engineering and<br />
Technology) was awarded Sitara-e-Pakistan Gold Medal in appreciation <strong>of</strong> his academic<br />
achievements and services given by Tehreek-e-Istehkam-i-Pakistan Council.<br />
Institutional Linkages<br />
The institute has a strong linkage with <strong>the</strong> industry, public and private sector institutions including<br />
SNGPL, PCSIR Laboratories, Atomic Energy Commission, PSQCA, National <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Sciences<br />
and Technology (NUST) Islamabad, NFC IET, NFC IFR, <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Engineering & Technology<br />
(UET) Lahore to share existing facilities.<br />
