New challenges have been set<br />
for younger mountain bikers at<br />
the <strong>Ashburton</strong> Skills Park and<br />
an impressivemetal arch has<br />
beenerectedat the start of the<br />
popularloop track.<br />
Mountain Bike <strong>Ashburton</strong> has<br />
used fundingof$6500 from<br />
<strong>Ashburton</strong> council to setup<br />
new, low level bridges and<br />
jumps specifically aimed at<br />
thoseunder 10.<br />
Accompanying signs offer<br />
advice on how best to tackle the<br />
obstaclesand howtojump, ride<br />
and do wheelies.<br />
Thefunding has also helped<br />
with the purchaseofmulchand<br />
landscaping, andwith the<br />
commissioningofan<br />
impressive new archthat<br />
directsriderstothe start of the<br />
mountain bike loop track.<br />
Thearch is dedicated to all of<br />
the volunteers whohave<br />
supportedthe growth of the<br />
skills parkand bike tracks in<br />
recent years.<br />
It has been constructed by<br />
localbusinessAgServe and has<br />
creatively reused someofthe<br />
old gardening tools of Mountain<br />
Bike<strong>Ashburton</strong> stalwartand<br />
