Extraspace at homewhen needed
RoomMate Cabins is one of the
largest suppliers of portable
cabins forhireinNew Zealand.
Theoriginal idea for residential
portable cabins in New Zealand
stemmed from the need for Kiwi
families tocontinuously upsize
their homes as the kids got older,
particularly teenagers who were
struggling to shareabedroom
with younger siblings but the
upsizing wasn’t along-term
issue.The kids would be leaving
home in afew shortyears and the
parents would then be leftwith a
house with extraspacethatthey
no longer needed.
This led to the idea of the portable
and rentable residential cabin
solution. Andso, the idea of cabins
as atemporaryaccommodation
option wasborn!
While small portable buildings
had been around foranumber
of years beforethis,inmost cases
they were very basic and were
built to satisfy the commercial
market,often being used on
building sites.
RoomMate Cabins wasthe
first New Zealand business to
specialise in the construction and
lease of cabins forthe residential
market.
This wasmorethan 17 years
ago,and nowthousands of New
Zealanders have benefited from
having aRoomMate Cabin to solve
their spaceissues.
Ourcabins arebeing used as
work-from-home offices,teaching
spaces,tea rooms,worker
accommodation, hobbyrooms,
building siteoffices,holiday
accommodation, eventticket
booths,and so much more!
