Welcome to our September Newsletter,
firstly I hope you and your family are well and
safe and that you are adjusting to life after
Coronavirus lock down which has been awful,
although a lot in all our lives has changed
hopefully things can start to slowly return to
something like normality and appreciate some
of the smaller simpler things in life.
As usual we have loads of news to share with
you as we welcome you back into our garage;
the new ‘70’ registration is launched on the 1st
of September, Škoda have launched their new
Octavia and also just won the ‘Most reliable
brand’ award, we’ve been busy selling the first
fully electric Škoda Citigos & now have onsite
charging, we’ve undergone a fully refurbished
Workshop, have lots of fantastic offers & two
members of staff who reached the finals of the
‘Škoda Challenge 2019’.

ŠKODAS FIRST ALL ELECTRIC CAR
The CITIGOe iV is our first fully electric car,
with an impressive range of up to 170 miles.
The 61kW electric motor generates the
equivalent of 83PS of power to give you a
punchy performance. Powering the electric
motor is a lithium-ion battery with a 36.8
kWh capacity producing an impressive range
of up to 170 miles which can be charged from
0% to 80% in just an hour.
The CITIGOe iV SE comes with a Mode 2 –
2.3kW charging cable (6 metre length). This
will charge your car from 0% to 80% in just
under 13 hours if you use a domestic threepin
socket. If you choose to purchase the
optional Mode 3 - 7.2 kW 32 Amp charging
cable (6 metre cable), you can charge at
public charging stations or a domestic wallbox
which will take your car from 0% to 80%
in just over four hours +.
Once you’ve plugged your
new ŠKODA CITIGOe iV in
to charge, you can check the
status and even stop or start
the charging process from
your phone.

WHAT WE DID IN LOCKDOWN...
…worry a lot initially! Our Workshops &
Parts Departments needed to remain open
to maintain and repair emergency service
vehicles. To begin with, it was just Police
vehicles, but as the weeks passed and the
word spread that we had remained open, we
got busier & busier, with the strangest array
of vehicles you could possibly imagine from
all over the north of England.
Thank you for all the nice messages we
received from customers who we helped
out in lock down. Particular thanks goes
to our ‘Magnificent 8’, Jess, Chris, Craig,
Nathan, Matty, Peter, Brian & Andrew who
unquestionably worked every day without
exception to keep your vehicle moving.
It was an extremely strange period that we
learned a lot from and won’t forget in a hurry
and sincerely hope will never be repeated.
A period in our history that we are proud
to have supported the emergency services
when they needed us most.

MEET THE ALL-NEW OCTAVIA...

The all-new model is longer and
wider than its predecessor, has an
even larger boot and showcases
the latest evolution of Škoda
design language. The new interior
combines class-leading practicality with
outstanding functionality and high-quality
materials. Innovative connectivity
features and new assistance
systems further highlight the
brand’s commitment to
delivering the best
possible value
for money to
owners.
Among
the many
highlights
fitted to all
models are
thirdgeneration
MIB infotainment systems, Virtual
Cockpit digital display, LED headlights,
and Wireless Smartlink for Apple CarPlay.
The all-new interior features a host of high
quality design features including a new twospoke
leather multifunction steering wheel,
shift-by-wire DSG selector, and rear parking
sensors with manoeuvre assist.
The all-new Octavia is teeming with
innovation, with some new features, already
used in other Škoda models, now being
incorporated into the Octavia for the first
time, while others have never before been
seen in a Škoda before, for example, it’s the
first Škoda to offer the head-up display, Turn
assist, Collision avoidance assist and Exit
warning.

WORKSHOP REFURBISHMENT
Although our big workshop (we have two)
is less than 18 years old, due to the volume
of business & technological requirements
of some new equipment we had organised
a major re-furbishment and upgrade to our
facilities.
Work commenced in February and customer
repairs, servicing and maintenance were
made a priority in our second smaller
workshop.
When the COVID-19 shutdown began, our
workshops had to remain operational to
carry out servicing and repairs to emergency
vehicles which included Cleveland police, the
Fire Service, the Coast Guard, Doctors, NHS
and Key workers vehicles. Although space
was tight, we managed to complete essential
repairs and maintenance and keep vehicles
on the road.
This included a new workshop floor, a new
MOT lift (One Person Test Lane), electric car
charging points and equipment for the repair
of electric and hybrid vehicles. The complete
workshop floor was replaced to make sure
that the whole area is 100% flat and level.
This is essential as a foundation for state-ofthe-art
mechanical workshop equipment.
The workshop upgrade was completed in
early June and was pressed into operation
immediately. All of the work carried out is
part of our continual commitment as an
independent, family-run business to provide
the best possible customer experience &
facilities for staff & customers.
A new raised pathway from the customer
parking area to the showroom entrance
has been laid to aid direction for visitors &
improve safety on the dealership forecourt
by creating a speed bump, we also used the
opportunity to re-apply all the site white
lining.

ŠKODA CHALLENGE ANDY IS A WINNER
The Škoda Challenge is a yearly competition
set by Škoda to find the best of the best
staff that work in their dealerships & this
year we were delighted to have Craig Ankers
(technician) and Andrew Fowle (Sales
Manager) reach the finals of their respective
disciplines.
The 30 finalists were judged on technical
know-how and their knowledge of the
vehicles after seeing off stiff competition from
another 400 entrants, as well as competing in
interactive tasks, infotainment, connectivity
and parts and accessories tests.
All national finalists are invited with their
partners to the prestigious Retailer of the
Year Awards hosted at the Luxurious Grove
Hotel and Spa where the national winners are
crowned who then go on to compete in the
international finals in Bergen, Norway (which
due to Coronavirus has been postponed until
next year).
Congratulations to Andrew & Craig for such
a magnificent effort and the best of luck
to Andrew, our Sales Manager, who now
continues onto the international finals.

EASIER ROUNDABOUT TO NAVIGATE
The much anticipated alternations to the roundabout outside our premises are finally scheduled
to be completed this month, the scheme comprises the introduction of a ‘throughabout’ - a
signalised roundabout with two lanes of traffic in each direction running through the middle of it
- at the A66/A171 Cargo Fleet Lane junction, together with the introduction of a signal controlled
crossroads at the junction of Cargo Fleet Lane and South Bank Road. The aerial image below
shows how the reconfigured junction will look & hopefully the completed works will make visiting
us easier & safer.
