Sounds of Scotch Choral 2020
Welcome to our first Music faculty public performance of 2020. This year has presented many challenges
and it is a credit to the character and resilience of our students, staff and community that we have an
exciting series of performances to present during the coming months. Today’s performance is all about our
vocal ensembles from the Mitcham and Torrens Park campuses featuring curricular and co-curricular
ensembles. We are very proud of our students who participate and contribute to making a Scotch
Performing Arts music education such a rich experience. A big thank you to our parents who we recognise
as ‘the wind beneath the wings’ for enabling your children to attend the necessary rehearsals and vocal
lessons.
This afternoon’s concert is being streamed live via YouTube so we thank you in advance for observing
concert etiquette and not talking during performance items or using mobile phones. Significantly, this is
Scotch College’s first performance in the historic St Augustine’s Anglican Church, Unley and continues our
recent tradition of Cathedral performances.
Since 2017, a new vocal ensemble pathway and rehearsal structure commenced on the Torrens Park campus
which divides the choral program into a variety of Middle and Senior School ensembles. This new structure
supports the increasing student demand for accessing group singing while also providing further extension
ensembles for students who want to perform more advanced repertoire across a range of musical styles.
The potential for this new structure will be apparent through the breadth of repertoire, high performance
standard and overall student enjoyment throughout this afternoon’s program.
There are many people to thank for their generous assistance. Firstly, to Ms Jane Pope, our Coordinator of
Music on the Mitcham campus, for leading the vocal ensemble program with the valued support of Ms Liz
Young. To Ms Janna Romeo for her work with Soul Mates and Soul Collective 2 and elective music vocal
classes. Thank you to Ms Kristen Hardy and Mr Rohan Powell for their leadership and support of the Torrens
Park campus Soulettes and Soul Brothers ensembles. To Ms Liz Young for her piano accompanying and
Ms Essie Kruckemeyer for her administrative support. To Mr Harley Campbell for his work with audio and
video reinforcement and the voluntary support provided by Ms Deb Kinsbury, Ms Carolyn Bosko, Mr Steve
Taylor and Mr Maxim Hubmayer.
Finally, thank you to our Senior Leadership team for their support of Performing Arts and Music across the
Mitcham and Torrens Park campuses. I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy seeing and hearing the musical
progression from Junior to Senior school and will join with me in congratulating our students for their musical
commitment and application towards ensemble music making.

Praise to The Lord, The Almighty, The King of
Creation
Praise to the Lord, The Almighty, the King of creation;
O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation
Come all who hear
brothers and sisters draw near,
praise him in glad adoration.
Praise to the Lord who in all things is wondrously reigning
and, as on wings of an eagle, uplifting, sustaining:
have you not seen
all that is needed has been
sent by his gracious ordaining?
Praise to the Lord, who will prosper our work and defend us;
surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend us:
ponder anew
what the Almighty can do
as with his love he befriends us.
Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!
All that has life and breath, come now with praises before him
Let the Amen
sound from his people again
gladly for ever adore him.

The College Song
We will always be united here,
true to the spirit that we hold dear
Honouring all our learning we shall be,
proudly leading for all to see
Friendships strong and knowledge true,
the wealth of our years, all we can be
A future rich in harmony,
this is our time to shine
Scotchies one and all arise with me,
stand by our lion rampant flying free
Like those before and those to come,
this is our College and we stand as one.
