PLAN
Strategic
2019-2024
Our thriving school community was founded 74 years ago by people
who believed in education and the process of nurturing and caring for
students as they developed over time. Over the past 74 years, we are
proud that our school foundation has remained strong and continues
to grow and change as the world around us evolves at a fast pace.
This Strategic Plan is grounded in the belief that EA must continually
evaluate itself and ensure that we are offering the premier academic
program and overall experience that learners need each year. We
believe that we are preparing our students to lead the way globally, as
thinkers and creators. Our process for the development of this plan
included information from all constituents in our community, leaders in
our community and Board members. As we reviewed the information
with our Independent School Management (ISM) consultant, common
themes and goals developed within our planning process and a plan
for the next 5 years at EA was developed.
We must develop a plan that integrates tradition with the changes
in education that our students deserve and need to be successful
globally. This thoughtful plan includes every aspect of our school
and a way to measure our success. We must always be on a path of
continued excellence and be open to change to offer the best academic
program and educational experience in El Salvador.
We are excited to share with you the Escuela Americana Strategic Plan
2019-2024.

The EA Board of Directors represents
and guards the school’s mission. They are
charged with celebrating, honoring and
understanding Escuela Americana’s past,
fortifying its present, and ensuring that its
future is mission-driven.
11
GROWTH AND
DEVELOPMENT
The EA Board of Directors is committed to a
strategic planning focus. The Strategic Plan will
be updated annually, and renewed every 3 to 5
years. We commit to being a Board that is highly
supportive of the school’s administration.
1
12

Research has continually shown that children succeed
academically, socially and emotionally to become
well-rounded and balanced individuals if their parents
are involved in their education and school activities.
When parents are involved, students have shown
increased motivation and better self-esteem. At EA
we believe that teacher-family partnerships promote
development and learning.
14
The STEAM LAB provides students with an
interactive learning opportunity which brings
together hands-on and virtual learning in
a differentiated environment. Students are
responsible for making decisions about their
learning which empower and motivate them to
learn and grow in an innovative environment.

Through professional development,
teachers acquire the skills to help
students learn how to think, problem
solve and develop a growth mindset.
The FabLab, fabrication lab or maker space, is a LEED
(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building, a
certification system that qualifies the most used green buildings
in the world, being a symbol of the achievement of sustainability.
With this, EA seeks to save up to 30% in energy, 50% in water
consumption, natural resources, reduce waste by up to 90%
and 35% in CO2 emissions. This not only boosts innovation, but
provides more healthy and comfortable spaces to work and learn.
19
BUILDING A

“A teaching method in which students learn and
acquire skills for an extended period of time through
researching and solving essential questions.” (NAIS)
The project-based curriculum is a student-centered
pedagogy that involves a dynamic classroom approach
in which it is believed that students acquire a deeper
knowledge through active exploration of real-world
challenges and problems.
Standard Based Grading
In education, the term standard-based refers to
