Because this sale was not planned a long time in advance, our offering comes straight from our keeper pen. All of the bred heifers were exposed to our exciting new calving ease herdsire, Swan Lake Force 28Y and safe to early services. We had no intentions of selling any of our bred heifers this fall, but when this opportunity came up, we dug deep in order to contribute. The calves were selected from cows that are solid producers and from a crosssection of herdbulls and AI sires-brothers sell at our annual bull sale March 2, 2013 in Veteran. Breds and calves were vaccinated this fall with Ultrabec, Bovisheild 5, and Inforce, as well as Ivomec’ed. The breds have also been vaccinated with ScourBos. After seeing the bull and his mother, we figured he would be a great addition to our bull battery. He was Swan Lake’s high selling bull for $15,500 and he promptly got turned into our heifer pen. With a calving ease EPD of 14.6 which puts him in the top 1%, we are looking forward to calving over 25 heifers bred to him ourselves. He has a lot of middle, muscle shape, and volume for such a calving ease and maternal type bull. We thought Rockstar’s power was his bull calves, but now that we have several daughters working I think his power is maternal strength. We purchased Red Carpet from the great breeding program at Virginia Ranch as we have always admired the Accelerator progeny, and his first calf crop has truly impressed us. 5
